Financial stress and job pressures are among the biggest drivers of poor mental health in men... And they're rarely talked about.

For a lot of blokes, the pressure to provide, to keep it together, to just get on with it... It's relentless.

And in communities like ours, that pressure is real. The farm. The business. The bills. The family counting on you.

But carrying it alone makes it heavier.

This Men's Health Week, we want you to know: it's okay to say it's tough. It's okay to reach out. And it doesn't have to get to crisis point before you do.

As a community, let's talk.

Men’s Health Week is a reminder that this isn’t a distant issue.

In South West Victoria, male su***de rates are significantly higher than the Australian average, including Colac, Corangamite and Warrnambool.

Behind those numbers are real people.
Mates, dads, brothers, teammates, workmates.

And too often, the signs are missed until things reach crisis point.

So this week is a reminder:
Check in.
Ask twice.
And don’t wait for the “right time” to have the conversation.

If you need support, you’re not alone.

Lifeline Australia: 13 11 14 (24/7)

Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636

Su***de Call Back Service: 1300 659 467

Emergency: 000

Talking to someone can feel hard but you don’t have to wait until things are at breaking point.

Peter opens up about what got him through — and it's something every one of us can do.

This Men's Health Week, LET'S TALK is sharing stories that remind us none of us have to carry it alone.

For a lot of men, mental health conversations don’t start in formal spaces.

They start at the footy club.
In the shed after training.
On the way home from work.
In those everyday moments where connection already exists.

Mental health prevention isn’t about having the perfect words. It’s about not letting those small moments of connection slip by.

A quick check-in.
Noticing when someone’s a bit quieter than usual.
Asking again instead of moving on.

Most men don’t suddenly hit crisis, it builds over time. Stress. Pressure. Withdrawal. Silence.

That’s why the spaces men already gather in matter so much.

A simple “you right?” in the right moment can go further than we think.

You don’t have to wait until things feel unmanageable to reach out.

SAVE THE DATE 🗓️ Walk the Walk Festival is back for 2026.

📍 Saturday October 3rd
⏰ 10am–10pm

For those new to it, Walk the Walk is all about coming together as a community to raise funds and awareness for mental health.

It’s grassroots. It’s real people. It’s teams showing up, walking, talking, supporting, and making a difference together.

After your feedback, we’ve shifted to a 12-hour format this year, making it more accessible for more people to be involved.

Same purpose. Same community. Just a format that works better.
