This World Schizophrenia Awareness Day, we’re encouraging our community to replace stigma with understanding.
Schizophrenia is one of the most misunderstood mental health conditions, and too often people living with it face judgement, discrimination and isolation instead of compassion and support. In Australia, many people with schizophrenia are far more likely to experience harm, exclusion and loneliness than to cause harm themselves.
Schizophrenia can affect the way a person thinks, feels and experiences reality, but with the right support, treatment, connection and understanding, people can and do live meaningful, fulfilling lives.
At LETS TALK, we believe conversations matter.
Education matters.
And reducing stigma matters.
Because no one should feel ashamed to seek help or speak openly about their mental health experience.
Today, we encourage you to:
🧠 Learn more about schizophrenia
💬 Challenge harmful stereotypes
🤝 Lead with empathy instead of assumptions
❤️ Support people and families impacted by psychosis and schizophrenia
Awareness creates understanding.
Understanding creates connection.
And connection can change lives.
