What a day it was yesterday for the Grand Opening of the Colac Neighbourhood House! It was amazing to see so many people coming through to see the new location, meet our current and new groups plus hear about new activities that will be starting soon at the house.
Everyone had a story to tell about parties, discos and other events that they attended over the years at the Youth Club so to open up the doors so people could relieve these memories was a privilege.

Just a few thanks you's that need to be mentioned:

🏠 To all the groups that set up information about their activities: Britt from Cultura Colac for Homework Club, Jayne from Nourish to Flourish - Carer Support, Gaye, Barb, Lorraine, Michael and partners from the Stroke & Aphasia Group, the CNH Quilting Group, Hope from Hope Yoga, Colac Chorale for beautiful singing, Noel and Ross from Colac 8 Ball, and Steve, Adrian and Graham from the Colac Table Tennis Association

🏠 Big thanks to Jof Tys and the guys from OCR FM for broadcasting at the event. We thank you for your continued and wonderful support of the Colac Neighbourhood House!

🏠 A special thanks to Maree, Gael, Emma on the coffee machine, Cheryl, Edith, Rhonda, Lynne, and our star photographer Davida McDonald. We couldn't have made the day such a success without you all!

🏠 Thanks to the lovely Jo at CAKE A LISH for the delicious slices and dumplings you provided. They were greatly appreciated, and the dumplings were definitely a crowd favourite!

After multiple extremely successful safe plate days last year, RoadSafe Otway will once again be hosting a Safe Plate Day at Bunnings Colac on Sunday 10th May 2026 between 10am and 2pm.

The aim of a Safe Plate Day is to make number plates harder to steal reducing the chances of your plates being used illegally in potential criminal activities.

Bring your mum, bring your grandmother, or any special lady in your life to Bunnings this Mothers day, and have their number plates secured with anti theft screws for FREE.
Whilst you're there maybe you could wander the store, find her a present or perhaps treat her to a famous Bunnings snag or two.

This event is generously funded by the Colac Otway Shire Community Grants program.

* Fitting of anti theft screws is FREE and available to all car owners not just mothers.
