🌿 We were honoured to welcome Sue-Anne Hunter, National Commissioner for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children and Young People, to Abcare’s Coffs Harbour office.
It was a wonderful opportunity to share the important work we do alongside Aboriginal children, young people, families, carers and communities. We are incredibly proud that Commissioner Hunter specifically requested to visit Abcare after hearing about the positive impact of our services.

🌿🍲 Abcare Social Support Group - 8 Week Cooking Program 🍲🌿
Our Social Support Group participants have been enjoying an exciting 8 Week Cooking Program with Sue Tomkins from Bush Tucker Shack.
The program explores the beautiful flavours and unique ingredients of our native bush foods, while teaching participants how to create meals at home that are both nourishing and easy to prepare.
From discovering new flavours to sharing stories and cooking together, this program has been a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn, and enjoy healthy, delicious food in a supportive environment.

🖤💛❤️ Strengthening Families Through Holistic Support
Yesterday, Abcare Chief Executive Greg Bennett and NSW Minister for Families and Communities, Kate Washington, met with our dedicated staff and health professionals to discuss the delivery of holistic therapeutic support for children and families through the Winyaaramba Family Preservation Program and Out of Home Care (OOHC).
The visit emphasised the significance of early intervention, culturally informed practices, and collaborative support to assist families in remaining united, fostering resilience, and achieving positive outcomes for children while maintaining their cultural and identity connections.
We are proud of the work being done through the Winyaaramba program and grateful for the opportunity to share its impact with Minister Washington.

Abcare was proud to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2026 alongside community, recognising this year’s theme, “Fifty Years of Deadly.”
A big thank you to everyone who came along, played, supported, and helped make the day such a success. It was great to see so much community spirit, connection, and cultural pride on display.
