We are excited to launch our brand new M&A Competition Proudly Sponsored by Arnold Bloch Leibler and are now recruiting student judges!

PLEASE NOTE: STUDENT JUDGE REGISTRATION CLOSES 24 JUNE

This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in a practical, transaction-focused competition and support competitors as they develop their negotiation, commercial reasoning, teamwork, and presentation skills.

Student judges will be provided with a marking workshop, as well as a judges’ guide and marking rubric, to ensure they feel confident and prepared throughout the competition.

Whether you are interested in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, commercial negotiation, or simply want to gain experience judging a legal skills competition, we encourage you to sign up.

Monash LSS Careers is excited to announce that a select number of our sponsor firms will be conducting Clerkship Mock Interviews this year. We are excited to present an impressive lineup of sponsors: Ashurst, Allens, Gadens, Arnold Bloch Leibler, Clayton Utz, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Baker McKenzie, Gilbert + Tobin, HFW, Johnson Winter Slattery, Maddocks and Mallesons.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain an authentic interview experience before clerkship applications open later this year, with each firm conducting 20-minute to 30-minute interviews via Zoom or in-person. The interviewers will have read through your CV prior to the interview, making the experience as realistic as possible. Please ensure you agree to: provide your cover letter, CV and unofficial transcript to the firm prior to your interview (you will be contacted on what you will need to provide if you have been successful in securing a mock interview session).

Mock Interviews will be conducted from Monday 29 June 2026 to Friday 3rd July 2026.

Due to the very limited number of slots available, priority will be given to penultimate year and final year students. Successful applicants will be notified via email.

Please keep in mind we are limited in our capacity to allocate everyone a spot.

Each applicant is only entitled to 1 interview slot and penultimate and final year students will be prioritised.

Applications will close on 19 June 2026.

What does your story say about you?

At Clayton Utz, we believe your individuality is one of your greatest assets. Join us on Tuesday, 23 June 2026 at 5:30 pm for a panel event on building your professional brand.

Your "brand" is the impression you leave on others — it's how you show up, stand out, and stay remembered.

Our panellists will share how they have built authentic careers while staying true to their values and beliefs, and how their cultural background can be a strength in professional settings. We hope the session will empower you to create your personal brand within the legal profession, whether you identify as a culturally diverse individual or not.

The panel will be moderated by Sanjana Surawala, Lawyer, Advisory, Risk & Regulation, with the following panellists:

🚨 NEW COMPETITION ALERT 🚨

The Monash LSS PG Competitions Team is excited to introduce a brand-new Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Competition, proudly sponsored by ABL.

Open to both JD and LLB students, competitors will participate in teams of 2–3, engaging with practical commercial law issues through written submissions and advocacy in a transactional setting.

As this is the inaugural year of the competition, we are currently seeking expressions of interest to gauge participation numbers and assist with final competition planning. If you are considering participating, we encourage you to register your interest.

The Postgraduate Competitions Team and ABL are currently working together to finalise the competition format and materials.

📄 Preliminary Round (Written Submissions) – 24 June

REGISTER FOR BAKERS' DOZEN

Back for its 6th year, the Bakers' Dozen series is now LIVE - check out the full series below!

Again, the live sessions will be run by Zoom and all students of all year levels are welcome to attend.

Baker McKenzie will run the usual sessions to support students during the full clerkship recruitment process, and sessions to support you to learn more about the firm (from global opportunities, to Pro Bono, to ID&E, to the practice groups and more), along with a Partner Q&A... all with an incredible Bakers team and some special guests from Prosple and the Law Institute of Victoria/LIV Emerging Lawyers.

There will also be two sessions on clerkship application tips - to support students across different states and to give students more opportunities to have your questions answered.
