Yesterday we Celebrated 10 years as a creative group.
June 18th 2016, we had our first ever meeting as Macarthur Bead Society. A group based on the art of Beading with a vision for exponential growth. We saw many beaders become members, and we also saw an ebb and flow in memberships. We had an influx of people that created so much more than with just beads and an outflow because they didn't feel like the perfect fit.
4 years ago, we changed our format and name to Macarthur Artisan Crafters and Beaders, and became a much less bead oriented group, and more welcoming of all artisan crafts. Beads of course are always at the forefront of creations, but there is the joy of creating in other mediums, or a mixture of many. This has led to members more willing to explore their creativity, which makes for very fun meetings.
During these 10 years we have also had a couple of locales we have called home, and we are currently looking for a new permanent home. But in the meantime, we still are able to get together monthly in a central location and have made it a comfortable venue for our existing members and any one who would like to join us in the future.
We continue to offer monthly challenges to whet the creative juices, and are more often than not, astounded by the level of creativity to achieve the given themes.
At our celebrations meeting, members were asked about what they liked most about being in the group. The recurring answer was the camaraderie that has been formed over the years, the challenging, and positive aspect of being pushed out of their creative comfort zones, and the eagerness to continue learning through our workshops and classes. All in all, there was resounding joy and fun in being with like minded people.
So here's CHEERS! to our existing and faithful members or should I say family?
