Local business shout-out ๐กโจ
I wanted to give a shout-out to my beautiful friend Katrina from Wakana Design Co.
Sheโs a local building designer with so much experience in creating thoughtful, practical homes that work for our FNQ climate, lifestyle and land.
With our community resilience hub now in progress, I already know who Iโll be going to for design support โ because as exciting as it is, there are so many boring logistical and technical steps I have no idea about ๐
Iโm terrible at catching up โ sorry Katrina! โ but Iโm always cheering you on and so proud to see you doing your thing.
Go check out Wakana Design Co. and support a talented local woman.

Hi, Iโm ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ, the designer behind ๐ช๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฎ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ป ๐๐ผ.
My path into building design has taken me through different parts of the industry, from interior design and contract administration back in 2008, through to working for a Geotechnical Engineer and then a sustainable builder.
For the past ten years Iโve worked within a local building design practice, developing residential designs and construction documentation.
It was always the plan to move into my own practice once my children were at school, and Wakana Design Co. is the next step in that.
Living on our property in the Atherton Tablelands continues to shape how I think about homes, climate and the way buildings sit on the land.
Along the way, Iโve become just as interested in how homes feel as how theyโre built, particularly how light moves through a space and shapes the way itโs experienced.
How they respond to climate, sit within the landscape, and support everyday life.
That mix of experience shapes how I approach design today.
Practical, considered homes that work well, not just on paper, but in real life.
