https://friendsofbushpups.com.au/available-for-adoption It was painfully evident (and still is) that not nearly enough attention, resources and effort was being directed to address the shocking extent of animal abuse and neglect occurring in the rural and regional outskirts of Cairns. Formed in 2019 by a small group of dedicated animal lovers who wanted to support grassroots animal rescue efforts in the region, Friends of Bush Pups Inc. is a 100% volunteer driven not-for-profit based in Cairns, Queensland. Since its inception, through fundraising activities and ongoing donor support, Friends of Bush Pups Inc. have financially supported Lyn from Bush Dogs & Pups () in the desexing, rehabilitation, and rehoming of thousands of bush dogs and pups. If you'd like to donate, we have a number of options:

HALLOWEEN ADOPTION DAY

Come along to bunnings Portsmith from 9:30am to see the puppies! 🐶🎃

26/10/2026

🐾 Every day, our local animal rescue groups give their time, energy and love to animals who need a second chance. Our No Empty Bowls Pet Food Drive and Adoption Day brought the community together to support their incredible work.

And what a response! 💛 Dozens of trolleys of donated food to help fill hungry bowls, multiple adoptions, and so much kindness from our community.

To our rescue superstars at Adopt Me Kittens, 4 The Love of Cats, Cairns Animal Rescue Inc 2, Yaps, Friends of Bush Pups Inc and Stray to Stay— thank you for everything you do. Behind every animal in your care are dedicated people rescuing, fostering, feeding and helping them find loving homes. We’re grateful we could play a small part in supporting you.

A big thank you to Nikki from Star 102.7 Cairns for helping spread the word and rallying donations through the station’s network.

And finally, to everyone who donated, adopted, came along, or shared a post — thank you for getting behind these wonderful groups. Your support makes a difference long after the event has ended. Because of your kindness, fewer animals will go hungry, and more will feel the love they deserve. 🧡🐾
