Introduction to Artificial Intelligence: AI Literacy workshop was a fabulous overview of the fast developing technology, with a lovely community lunch. Thanks to partners Good Things Foundation and NIECH Networker Lily. It was great to have help from our younger volunteers assisting our wonderfully and perennially curious participants. The next sessions in July will be for our Mandarin-speaking community. Both sessions are already booked out but we’re taking a waiting list.

Fund our work! How many eligible people will miss out on the motor registration rebate because they don’t have technology skills? Ingrid Stitt MP Paul Hamer MP Luba Grigorovitch MP Jacinta Allan

Neighbourhood Houses Victoria proposed a partnership for the Registration Rebate, which would have funded our work in helping community access the rebate.

They rejected the proposal, and told us there was no funding available to assist community members who face challenges with digital literacy, digital access, language barriers and more. They are expected to apply via the website or app, or miss out on the rebate.

We think that is incredibly unfair and a poor effort from the State Government, with horrible outcomes for both our most vulnerable community members and our already underfunded Neighbourhood Houses.

Please let your local MP, Ingrid Stitt MP and Luba Grigorovitch MP know that our community deserves better!

Today we had our Biggest Morning Tea in support of Cancer Council Australia. Thank you to everyone for your generous donations, support, and for coming together to raise funds for cancer research.

Happy Volunteers Week. We got together with our Adult Migrant Education Service (AMES) partners, tutors and volunteers and held one of our Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser events. It was a huge sandwich creating event. Our next Biggest Morning Tea event is on Tuesday 26th May at 11am. We’re asking you to please bring a small plate to share and some money to donate to Cancer Council.

Thanks to Network of Inner East Community Houses Inc - NIECH and Lily for the bus tour showcasing five of our wonderful houses and the amazing work they do for their communities! Our volunteer Jacquie and team member Sally had a wonderful time and learned so much about the diversity of our Houses.
