Broken Hill Model Flying Club Inc. Our club flies a variety of aircraft. Scale aeroplanes, 3D helicopters, turbine jets, and large petrol engine aerobatic aircraft. Visitors are always welcome.

We fly at any time, but mostly weekend mornings providing the weather is suitable. The Broken Hill Model Flying Club was established in 1969. Currently we have a membership of around fifteen. A variety of aircraft are flown from small electric planes to large 150cc petrol aircraft, war birds, electric and fuel helicopters. Our flying field named "Ulinga"is located on the Silver City Highway approx

imately four kilometers past the racecourse road turnoff. Aircraft can usually be seen flying on weekends throughout the day, weather permitting. Spectators are most welcome! Can I fly a Radio Control model ? Yes. There is no age or experience barrier. Anyone can successfully pilot a model aircraft. You must take time to learn the basics of operating a model aircraft. Learning to fly R/C models on your own can be frustrating and expensive. Join the Broken Hill Model Flying Club and get some advice and assistance. When you join the club you will also join the MAAA ( Model Aeronautical Association of Australia ). This association has a third party insurance policy which covers you against injury to people and damage to property. How do I start ? So your interested in learning to fly model aircraft. Why not book a free lesson with one of our club instructors. All equipment can be provided and you can be connected to a buddy-box system which means the instructor can take over at any time. Advice can be given on purchasing aircraft, engine, transmitter etc. Costs

Like most hobbies you can spend as little or as much as you like. If your new to model flying then you will need the following to get started. Transmitter, which would normally include battery pack, charger, servos, and receiver. Trainer aircraft, engine and propeller. Starting gear would include a flight box, fuel ,12v battery, glow plug ignitor, and fuel pump. In total you could be in the air for around $800.

Testing the new w**d sprayer. Funding was provided to the club by the Broken Hill City Council Community Assistance Grant. Herbicide was also provided through grant funding by Model Aero sport SA. Thanks to both, this will be a handy piece of equipment for maintaining w**ds on our field.

15,000 Mundi Mundi Bashers are heading through Broken Hill over the next couple of days for a music festival. A spectacular display of 300 swarm drones was put on by Elite Drones above the Line of Lode restaurant.

Awesome day of flying today! Club members Paul, Dean, Greg, Michael, Neil and Ash competed in the 4th round of the MASA comp and enjoyed the experience. Ash attempted the tasks that he wasn't confident or able to a year ago!
After this, members let loose with relief and graced the outback skies with their illustrious presence. Many thanks to Bob Coulls and Paul for cooking the BBQ. Great to see Robert Angell pop out for a quick look this morning too.
Fantastic for Pauls mate and his son come out for a look and his son to have his first fly with instructor Greg on the buddy box.

Great flying on Saturday! Those who braved the cold enjoyed the benefits of amazing flying conditions.

Thanks Cohen for getting a photo of Ash, who is normally behind the camera when not having a Kwik Fly.

Cohen and Rob had more flying lessons with Instructor Greg. Both are doing well.

Greg and Dean took their electrics up and demnstrated some great moves. Great to have Dean's son visiting and taking his plane to the skies.

Neil maidend a new plane and all went really well until... a wheel come off in mid flight; causing it to spiral and dive straight to the ground. Thankfully the plane is fixable.
