45km on the Sunshine Coast Great Walk!

Over the long weekend, Thursday Scout Adelina stepped up to lead a Patrol of Scouts on an impressive 45km adventurous journey along the Sunshine Coast Great Walk.

This wasn’t just about walking 45km. Adelina took responsibility for planning the journey, including preparing the navigation plan, risk assessments and parent permissions, putting plenty of important Scouting skills into practice before our Scouts even hit the trail.

Of course, no Scout adventure is complete without a story or two! 🐭 Apparently some local rodents decided the Scouts’ tents, bags and even clothes looked rather tasty and helped themselves during the night!

Despite the unexpected visitors, everyone had a fantastic time and completed another memorable Scouting adventure.

A great effort from Adelina in planning and leading the hike, and well done to the entire Patrol for taking on the challenge. A big thank you to Scout Leader Smiley for supporting our Scouts!!

LOCHY AT AGOONOREE

A very special moment on morning parade at Agoonoree today, with Lochy recognised for achieving his Australian Scout Award.

Bracken Ridge Scouts Cody and Cooper shared Lochy’s Scouting journey, from first attending Agoonoree as a guest, to joining Bracken Ridge Scout Group and ultimately achieving the highest award in the Scout Section.

Agoonoree Camp Chief Jono then presented Lochy with a special certificate recognising his achievement.

Lochy’s Scout Leader Smiley, Group Leader Kanga, and a number of Bracken Ridge Scouters attending Agoonoree were also proud to be on parade to share the moment.

A wonderful acknowledgement of a much loved Scout and a very special Scouting journey.

BRAVO Lochy 👏👏👏

Rocky Creek Adventure!

Over the weekend, our Thursday Scouts (ages 11–14) enjoyed an action-packed camp at Rocky Creek Scout Campsite, just outside Landsborough.

The Scouts challenged themselves with abseiling, made shepherd slings from paracord before turning them into survival bracelets, and even made the trek into Landsborough for a well-earned ice cream and a play on the local playground.

Scout camps are also about developing independence. Our Scouts planned, shopped for and cooked all their own meals, while camping together in Patrols and sharing responsibility for making camp run smoothly.

A big thank you to all the Leaders who enabled our Scouts to enjoy a fantastic weekend of adventure, practical skills, teamwork and plenty of fun.
