🎨 It was TikTok Takedown Day at BOHP! 🎉

Today we tackled rapid drawing chaos, "don't say the same word" battles, and rock-paper-scissors snack showdowns — connection, laughs, and a little friendly competition. This is what community looks like. 🩷

We run groups on the first 3 Thursdays of every month at Berkeley Community Centre from 1pm-3pm — 1st & 3rd Thursdays are Women's Circle, 2nd Thursday is Craft & Connect. Free to attend, lots of fun, and you can also access referrals, advocacy, and support along the way! 🩷

🌱 What's growing in your heart today?

At Beacon of Hope, we believe hope grows when we notice the good, even in small moments. Share what you're grateful for — this can be anonymously — and help us plant a garden of hope in the community and our next newsletter. 🩷

Shout out to our awesome newsletter assistant Ciara, for this wonderful idea ✨💖

🏆 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards 🏆

What an incredible afternoon celebrating the everyday heroes who show up, again and again, for their communities. Beacon of Hope Project was honoured to attend the NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards on 31st August 2026 — and even more honoured to be recognised alongside so many extraordinary volunteers doing quiet powerful work.

To every volunteer in our community, within Beacon of Hope Project and externally, this recognition is yours. 💗

🕯️ We're turning ONE! 🎉

A year ago, Beacon of Hope Project was just an idea born from lived experience and a belief that women deserve better. We're throwing our first birthday party — and it's also our unofficial launch AND our very first AGM!

Come celebrate with us on Tuesday 7th October at Wests Illawarra:

🎨 11:30am — Peer-led craft station, service mini-expo, our Inclusive Markets vendors, an info station on where we're headed next, and a panel discussion about the value of lived experience from specialists in supporting women; so far we have lined up Dr Karen Williams, MP Anna Watson and BOHP Peer Worker, Registered Nurse, Founder of Neurodivergent Nurses and PHD candidate researching neurodivergent nurses Jessie Smithers.
📋 2:00pm — Our first ever Annual General Meeting

This one's for everyone, it's about showing creativity, community and connection can happen anywhere — we welcome vendors, volunteers, partners, and the women we walk alongside. Let's celebrate how far we've come and where we're going next. 💗

Register your interest now — scan the QR code or go to our website, events page and follow the prompts.

Today, our CEO and Market Coordinator stood alongside a few other incredible BOHP volunteers who registered to complete Lifeline 2 hr DV Awareness Training. 🩷

Understanding the signs, the impact, and how to respond safely is something every single one of us can carry forward — into our conversations, our community spaces, and our advocacy. We are grateful to be a part of this opportunity to continuously improve our understanding and knowledge responding to domestic and family violence.
