One health worker - hundreds of mothers and babies!

This EOFY, we're raising funds to support the Maternal & Child Health Liaison Officer at the Maubisse Referral Hospital in Timor-Leste.

Working directly with pregnant women, new mothers and families, the role provides practical support that helps give children the healthiest possible start in life.

Around the same time audiences were first lining up to see Andy and Miranda face off in The Devil Wears Prada, the people of Bendigo were beginning a very different kind of story - a friendship with the mountain town of Maubisse in Timor-Leste, that would grow into two decades of connection, partnership, and community.

Twenty years later, Andy is still surviving Miranda, while the Bendigo Maubisse Friendship Group is celebrating the 20th Anniversary of partnership and connection.

Join us for a fun night of fashion, friendship, and fundraising at our upcoming showing of The Devil Wears Prada 2.

630PM Thursday 4th June at in Eaglehawk. Tickets available now. Link in Bio/Comments.

Study Tour 2026 is now open!

Travel with us through Timor-Leste on a small-group study tour shaped by our long-standing partnerships and genuine connection.

From Dili to the Highland region of Maubisse and Balibo, you’ll gain insights into Timorese culture and history and the impact of our community-led work while directly contributing to it.

100% of tour profits support the nurse program at Maubisse Referral Hospital.

This week, BMFC volunteers delivered 50 hand-sewn hybrid kits to the House.

The kits will be shared through the Harcourt Recovery Centre as fire recovery continues in the region. They're condensed versions of the full Days for Girls packs that we sew for our friends in Maubisse - waterproof pouches filled with reusable period products, made from locally donated materials.

Our partnerships are built on practical care, shared skills, and community supporting community, whether that’s across the Timor Sea or just down the Calder Highway.

Thank you to the donors and volunteers whose work and care made this delivery possible, and to the Castlemaine

If you’d like to support future sewing days or contribute materials, we’d love to hear from you.

20 years strong 💪

BMFC supporters should mark 18th September in the calendar and keep an eye on your email.

Details of our special gathering to celebrate 20 years of partnership with Maubisse will be shared soon.

Featuring special guest speaker Kirsty Sword Gusmão, the evening will be an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, honour the relationships that sustain our work, and reflect on the impacts we’ve achieved together across two communities.

We've got plenty planned for a night not to be missed!

Ksolok Natal! It means Merry Christmas in Tetum, an official language of Timor-Leste, and our Committee Members send warm seasonal greetings to you all, wherever you may be.

Thank you so much to all our wonderful partners, volunteers, and supporters. 2025 has been a huge year for BMFC, both here in Bendigo and for our friends in Maubisse, and we are deeply grateful for everyone’s commitment and care.

Our Annual Report will be released soon. We're looking forward to sharing the highlights from 2025 as we prepare to celebrate our 20th Anniversary in 2026.
