Celebrating Foster & Kinship Care Week 2026 ❤️

What a wonderful way to celebrate Foster & Kinship Care Week 2026!

Our Creating Links team had a fantastic time at the Foster & Kinship Care Week Picnic, coming together with carers, children, young people and families for a day filled with fun, connection and celebration.

Foster & Kinship Care Week is an important opportunity to recognise and thank the incredible carers who open their hearts and homes to children and young people, providing safety, stability, support and a strong sense of belonging.

We loved being part of the picnic, sharing plenty of smiles and great moments while celebrating the amazing foster and kinship care community.

To all foster and kinship carers , thank you for everything you do and for the difference you make in the lives of children and young people every day.

We hope everyone who joined us at the picnic had as much fun as we did!

Our team got into the Book Week spirit, dressing up as some much-loved characters and bringing plenty of colour, creativity and fun to the day!

But the best part? Our staff also generously donated books for the children and young people we support, helping to share the joy of reading and inspire a love of stories and imagination.

A huge thank you to everyone who dressed up, donated and joined in the fun. It was wonderful to see our team come together to make Book Week that little bit more special for our children and young people.

A big thank you to Fields Of Fruit at Bankstown Central for their generous donation of fresh fruit to support our Term 3 Parent-Child Mother Goose programs!

The Parent-Child Mother Goose program brings parents, carers and their little ones together through songs, rhymes and storytelling, helping to strengthen relationships, build confidence and support children’s early development.

Generous contributions like this help us create a welcoming and enjoyable environment for the families taking part in our programs.

Thank you to the team at Fields of Fruit for supporting Creating Links and our local families. We truly appreciate your generosity and community spirit!

Today we proudly launched our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 🖤💛❤️

Today marked a significant milestone for Creating Links as we officially launched our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), reaffirming our commitment to reconciliation and to building stronger, more respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations.

Our Innovate RAP represents our ongoing commitment to embedding reconciliation into the way we work, lead and engage with the communities we support. It challenges us to listen, learn and take meaningful action, while creating culturally safe, inclusive environments where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples feel respected, valued and empowered. Through this commitment, we will continue to strengthen partnerships, increase opportunities, celebrate culture and ensure our actions contribute to lasting and meaningful change.

We were honoured to be joined by Uncle John and Aunty Liz, who led a meaningful Smoking Ceremony, sharing culture, knowledge and wisdom while cleansing the space and acknowledging the importance of reconciliation, respect and connection.

The event was attended by our Chairman, Raad Richards, Director and Councillor Chris Cahill, CEO Natalee O'Brien, and many of our dedicated staff, who came together to celebrate this important milestone and reaffirm our shared commitment to walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations, staff also participated in a boomerang painting activity, providing an opportunity to connect through culture, creativity and storytelling.

At Creating Links, reconciliation is a shared responsibility. We recognise that meaningful change comes through genuine partnerships, accountability and ongoing learning. We are proud to continue our reconciliation journey and remain committed to creating opportunities that strengthen communities, promote equity and contribute to a more inclusive future for all.

Thank you to Uncle John, Aunty Liz, everyone who joined us today, and to all those who continue to support and guide us on this journey.

Today marked an exciting new chapter for Creating Links!

Today, we proudly launched our new Vision, Mission and Values at our Head Office, bringing together staff, leadership and community representatives to celebrate the future of Creating Links and the impact we create every day.

We were honoured to be joined by Bilal El-Hayek Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor, Creating Links Director and Canterbury-Bankstown Councillor Chris Cahill, Creating Links Chairman Raad Richards, Creating Links CEO Natalee O’Brien, and our incredible team members as we officially unveiled our new Vision, Mission and Values.

This launch represents far more than new words on a wall. It reflects who we are, what we stand for, and the difference we strive to make in the lives of the people and communities we support.

Our Vision
A community that celebrates diversity, uplifts every voice, and drives impact through shared learning and meaningful connection.

Our Mission
Partnering with individuals, families and communities to create inclusive environments where everyone is respected, valued and empowered to shape their own future.

At the heart of everything we do are our five core values:

Compassion: Leading with care, empathy and kindness.
Inclusion: Creating environments where everyone belongs.
Integrity: Acting honestly, ethically and with accountability.
Collaboration: Working together to achieve the best outcomes.
Respect: Valuing every person’s voice, culture and experience.

Stefan* is a playful and affectionate 3-year-old Macedonian little boy with a cheeky sense of humour and a love for active play and adventure. He enjoys toy cars, outdoor activities, building games, and making people laugh with his funny personality.

Stefan’s Macedonian culture and identity are important parts of who he is, and he would thrive with carers who can support his connection to traditions, celebrations, language, food, and community while helping him build confidence, emotional security, and trust in the adults around him.

Wiremu is a 4 year old Maori boy, he enjoys puzzles, toy dinosaurs, helping in the kitchen, and spending time outside discovering nature and the world around him. Wiremu is independent in many ways and responds beautifully to encouragement, praise, and warm, positive attention. He thrives with routines and feels most settled when he knows what comes next in his day. Wiremu would benefit from carers who can provide structure, clear expectations, active engagement, and opportunities for learning through play and everyday experiences.
