Today, members of the QCWA Alpha Branch were honoured to attend the ANZAC Day service in Alpha, joining with our local community to remember and pay tribute to the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country.

ANZAC Day holds a special place in the hearts of communities, where the values of mateship, courage, resilience, and service continue to be deeply respected and remembered.

We are grateful for the freedoms we enjoy today because of those who gave so much. Their legacy lives on through generations.

Lest We Forget.

🌸 QCWA Alpha Branch – Next Meeting 🌸
18th April 2026

We’d love to invite anyone who might like to come along and join us at our next meeting. Whether you’re hoping to meet new people, get a little more involved in the community, or simply come along for a chat, a cuppa and some yummy food, you are very welcome.

If you feel like giving back in any way whether that’s helping plan events, lending a hand on the day, sharing ideas, or just being part of the group. We would truly love to hear from you.

Is there something you’d like to see CWA get involved in or bring to our community? We’d love to hear your ideas too.

Every little bit helps, and new faces are always welcome 💙

💙 Making a Difference Beyond Alpha 💙

We are so proud to share that $4,100 raised at our flamed grilled conversations night has gone towards upgrading the shuttle bus waiting area at the Charles Wanstall Apex Lodge in Brisbane.

Thanks to this generous contribution, the space has been repurposed into a comfortable, cool and convenient area for guests staying at the lodge while waiting for the shuttle service. It is now under cover, with more room to sit and relax. A small change that makes a big difference for those already going through so much while receiving cancer treatment.

Knowing that funds raised right here in our little community are helping provide comfort and care to rural families away from home means so much to us.

We would also like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful volunteers and staff at the lodge Bill, Bill, Richard, Kim, Pete, Jo, Prachi, Nicole and Judith for their work in completing the upgrade.

Have you ever thought about getting more involved in your community? This might just be your sign 💙

From fundraising events to guest speakers and community projects, we’re passionate about making a difference right here in Alpha.

Right now, we’re a small handful of dedicated members carrying a lot of the load. We’re incredibly proud of what we achieve but we truly need a few more helping hands to keep QCWA Alpha strong and thriving for years to come. Even giving a little time can make a big difference.

🌸 Calling for Nominations – President Position 🌸

The QCWA Alpha Branch is calling for nominations for the position of President, and we’d love to hear from anyone who might be interested in stepping into this rewarding role.

QCWA Alpha Branch is a supportive, community-focused group that works hard to bring people together through events, fundraising, and initiatives that make a real difference locally and beyond. We are passionate about connection, community, and looking out for one another.

The President works alongside a strong and supportive executive committee, so you’re never doing it on your own. You’ll have a great team around you to help run meetings, organise events, and keep our branch ticking along smoothly.

If you enjoy being part of a community, supporting others, and helping guide a great group of women forward, this could be a wonderful opportunity.

Please feel free to share or tag someone who you think would be perfect for the role 💛

As we wrap up for the year, the QCWA Alpha Branch would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy New Year. We hope you all enjoy some well-earned downtime with the ones you love family, friends, and the people who make life that little bit brighter. Hug them tight, cherish every moment… you truly never know what tomorrow may bring. 💛

We also want to say a big, heartfelt thank you.
Thank you for backing our events, for turning up, for donating, for lending a hand, for cheering us on, and for proving once again that when a small town comes together, big things really do happen.

As we look toward 2026, we’d love to welcome new members into our QCWA family. We might be small, but we’re mighty and with fresh faces, new ideas, and more helping hands, we can keep growing and doing even more for our community. If you’ve ever thought about joining, now’s the perfect time. Our first meeting of 2026 will be in March. We’d love to have you. Keep an eye out on socials for a date 💐

Wishing you all a wonderful festive season filled with love, laughter, and plenty of country hospitality.
From our QCWA Alpha Branch family to yours.

💛 Still Proud, Still Grateful 💛
Flame Grilled Conversations 2025 🔥
It’s been a few months since our Flame Grilled Conversations night. We’re so excited to finally announce that, thanks to our incredible community, we raised over $8,000! Words can’t quite describe how proud we are, or how grateful we feel, knowing this little town pulled together to make such a big difference. We’ve chosen four charities that truly reflect who we are as a rural community and the values we stand for: Outback Futures, Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) , Charles Wanstall Apex Lodge, The Blue Tree Project. These charities walk beside country people every day. Through health battles, tough seasons, long distances, and all the little challenges that come with living out here. Supporting them felt like the perfect way to honour what our night was all about: showing up, looking out for each other, and keeping conversations alive.

💬 What a Night! Flame Grilled Conversations 2025 🔥

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who joined us on Sunday. Locals came together, blokes, ladies, and families, all in the name of men’s health. It was a night of laughter, reflection, and real conversations that truly mattered. And how fitting that today, on World Mental Health Day, we celebrate the importance of checking in with ourselves and each other, because conversations like these are where change begins. 💛

We were privileged to hear from speakers who travelled from near and far, from Brisbane to Theodore, each leaving a lasting impact.

From the BBQ, raffles, auction, mystery prizes, and lucky seats, to the crowd who filled the Alpha Jockey Club with good spirit and open hearts, thank you.

A huge thank you also goes to MC Cameron Dare, who kept the evening flowing with humour and heart, and to our sponsors and supporters who made this event possible. Your generosity helped us raise both awareness and vital funds for men’s health in our region.

Capping off the night, we cheered on the mighty Broncos taking the win on the big screen — what a game to finish on! 🏉🔥

Funds raised will go towards Charles Wanstall Apex Lodge a home away from home, Outback Futures, and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) — supporting men’s health and wellbeing across regional Queensland.

A special mention to Claudia for the clever face painting and balloon twisting, and to Creek Farm for the fun outdoor kids’ activities and colouring in. 🎈
And of course, to the Alpha Jockey Club for standing with us, helping prepare, clean up, and run the bar — we couldn’t have done it without you.

💛 Because when we come together, we remind each other that it’s not weak to speak, it’s strong. 💬🔥

🔥 One Day to Go! 🔥

We’re so excited to be welcoming over 100 people tomorrow for Flame-Grilled Conversations – a night for families, friends, and our amazing Alpha community. ❤️

This event is close to the QCWA Alpha Branch’s heart, shining a light on men’s health and the importance of checking in with yourself and your mates.

We’ve got an incredible line-up of guest speakers ready to share real, raw stories and spark meaningful conversations:
👨‍🌾 For the men: Dan O’Neil, Russ Glindemann, John Burnett & MC Cameron Dare
👩‍🦰 For the ladies: Katrina O’Neil & Matt Banks

Plus, the night’s packed with raffles, auction prizes, a BBQ dinner, and the big game live on the big screen! 🎉

Every dollar raised from Flame-Grilled Conversations goes directly to three incredible organisations supporting rural and regional Queenslanders when they need it most:
💛 Charles Wanstall Apex Lodge
💙 Outback Futures
❤️ Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS)

Together, these organisations make a world of difference – and through this event, we’re proud to play our part in helping them continue their vital work. 🙌

🎟️ Tickets are still available online or you can grab yours at the gate tomorrow until 6:30pm – right before kick-off.

Let’s come together, raise awareness, support our men, and make it a night to remember. 👏
