Several members of Albany Creek Rotary this weekend attended our annual Rotary Conference on the Gold Coast.
This year 3 districts attended with more than 500 Rotarians in attendance.
We heard speakers from all walks of life, learned about new projects and reached across the boundaries to make new friends.

Join us this Tuesday evening as we welcome Sarah from OzHarvest, Australia’s leading food rescue and relief organisation.

📅 Date: Tuesday 5th May
⏰ Time: 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start (finishing around 8:00pm)
📍 Location: Albany Creek Tavern – Function Room (public bar end), 730 Albany Creek Rd
💲 Optional Meal: $25 per person

Sarah, OzHarvest’s Volunteer Coordinator for Queensland, is passionate about the power of community and sustainability. With a background in environmental sustainability, she’s dedicated to inspiring others to take action and be part of the solution.

🌱 What to expect:

Insights into food waste and food insecurity in Australia
How OzHarvest rescues quality surplus food and delivers it to those in need
Practical ways you can get involved – volunteering, fundraising, food drives, and more
OzHarvest was recently featured in the Rotary Down Under newsletter, highlighting the incredible impact of Rotary members teaming up to cook meals for those doing it tough.

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn, connect, and discover how small actions can make a big difference in our community.

Last night at Rotary Club of Albany Creek was one of those meetings that truly reminds us why we do what we do 💙

We had the privilege of meeting the most incredible, dedicated mother and her brave young daughter. After suffering a stroke at just 4 years old, this inspiring duo has turned their journey into something truly powerful. Together, they have worked tirelessly to challenge hospital norms and bring comfort and joy to other sick children.

Their mission? Bright, cheerful, and accessible hospital pyjamas designed especially for little bodies, making it easier for medical care, with clever designs that allow tubes and wires while still letting kids feel like kids.

As a club, we were proud to support this amazing initiative. Not only did we help raise funds, but we also added a little extra joy by writing 150 Dad jokes to be included in every gift pack (because laughter really is the best medicine!).

Thanks to one fantastic Bunnings Sausage Sizzle, we raised $1,800, which will deliver 130 brand-new pairs of pyjamas to children at the Children’s Hospital in Brisbane.

A huge thank you to everyone involved—this is community, compassion, and connection in action. 💛
