๐Ÿ† Congratulations to our 2026 Award Winners! ๐Ÿ†

In addition to our category and major prize winners, five special awards were presented as part of the 2026 1770 Art Show:

โœจ Emerging Artist Award
โœจ Local Artist Award
โœจ Marine Environment Art Award
โœจ Hangers Award
โœจ People's Choice Award

Together, these awards contributed $3,500 in prize money and celebrated a diverse range of achievements - from emerging talent and local creativity to environmental storytelling, exhibition favourites and the artwork that captured the hearts of our visitors.

These awards help recognise that art can be appreciated in many different ways. Whether selected by a judge, chosen by the hanging team, or voted for by the public, each award reflects a unique contribution to the success of the exhibition.

A heartfelt thank you to the generous sponsors who make these awards possible year after year. Your support helps us celebrate artists, encourage creativity and continue growing the 1770 Art Show for our community.

Congratulations once again to all of our award winners on your well-deserved recognition. ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ‘

Our 2026 Art Show Champions series continues with a special shout-out to Trevor.

As a new volunteer this year, Trevor stepped straight into the action. From helping Mark erect exhibition screens (despite never having seen the process before) to carefully assembling artworks from artists' instructions, he brought patience, practical skills, and a willingness to help wherever needed.

Not content with simply lending a hand, Trevor even went home and developed a plan to streamline Art Outtake, helping ensure artworks were organised and ready for collection in an efficient and stress-free way.

Behind the scenes, Trevor was also a wonderful support to his wife, Deb, who spent countless hours collating artist statements and helping with the many tasks required to have the exhibition doors open and ready by 6pm on 21 May 2026.

What we love most about volunteers like Trevor is that they quietly step in, see what needs doing, and get it done. No fuss, no fanfare - just a genuine commitment to helping make the show the best it can be.

Thank you, Trevor, for the skills, patience, and positive attitude you brought to the team. Thank you for looking after Deb whilst she looked after the show.

Together, you're a wonderful example of the community spirit that makes the 1770 Art Show possible.

What a team. Our husbands really do rock! โค๏ธ

We know many of you have been eagerly waiting for this announcement, and after carefully sorting and counting every vote, we're delighted to reveal the winner of the 2026 1770 Art Show People's Choice Award.

Firstly, thank you to everyone who visited the exhibition and cast a vote. While we welcomed many more visitors through the doors, an incredible 1,288 votes were submitted and meticulously counted by our volunteer committee.

We are honoured to announce that the 2026 People's Choice Award has been awarded to Marlies Oakley for her striking collage, Echoes of the Shout. Created using recycled bottle tops, this unique work captured the imagination of visitors and received an impressive 112 votes, making it the clear favourite of the exhibition.

A special mention also goes to ๆ—ฉๅฎ‰ for The Dance, which secured second place in the voting.

The People's Choice Award is particularly special because it reflects the voices of our community and visitors, making this recognition all the more meaningful.

You may even spot Echoes of the Shout hanging somewhere in our local community soon... can you guess where?

Finally, a sincere thank you to Lily from Floral Design By Lily for her generous sponsorship of the People's Choice Award. Your support helps us continue celebrating artists and bringing art to our community.

Congratulations, Marlies, and thank you again to everyone who visited, voted, exhibited, volunteered, and supported the 2026 1770 Art Show.

Some people quietly become the backbone of an event, and for the 1770 Art Show, that person is Mark.

While many know Mark as a Bendigo Bank Board Member, to us he is so much more. Throughout the year, he is a constant source of support for our President, Prue, standing beside her through the countless hours, challenges and decisions that come with delivering an event of this scale.

Whether it's cooking dinner after a long day, making his famous cumquat jam for volunteers, or simply bringing a sense of calm when things feel overwhelming, Mark is always there, helping in ways both big and small.

This year, Mark played a huge role in hanging our biggest exhibition yet, carefully handling and helping curate 277 pieces of artwork. Many pieces were moved, adjusted, rehung and repositioned until everything felt just right. Through it all, he approached every task with patience, care and an eye for detail that helped bring the show to life.

The 1770 Art Show is built on the efforts of many volunteers, and today we'd like to shine a light on one of them.

Please join us in thanking Mark for everything he contributes behind the scenes. We think he's more than earned a cold beer or two! ๐Ÿป

There are sponsors, and then there are community champions.

A heartfelt thank you to Community Bank Agnes Water-1770 for once again supporting the 1770 Art Show in 2026. While their sponsorship plays a vital role in helping us deliver this event each year, it is the people behind the organisation who truly make a difference.

From months of assisting artists with entry forms and helping sell Gala Night tickets, to warmly welcoming guests on opening night, the Bendigo Bank team was there every step of the journey.

A special mention must go to Kellie, Chair of the Board, who generously volunteered her time during both art intake and art outtake, and regularly checked in during the lead-up to the event to see how she could help. That level of commitment and care speaks volumes about the values of our community.

The 1770 Art Show is made possible by people who roll up their sleeves, lend a hand, and support one another. Bendigo Bank's board, staff and volunteers embody exactly that spirit.

What a team. What a community.

We are incredibly grateful to have such passionate supporters standing beside us and helping make the 1770 Art Show the success it is.

Thank you, Bendigo Bank. ๐Ÿ’™

As we reflect on the success of the 2026 1770 Art Show, we're honoured to share a selection of the 48 artworks that found new homes during Gala Night and throughout the 10-day exhibition.

Every sale is a testament to the incredible talent of our artists, whose creativity continues to inspire and captivate visitors year after year.

It is also a reflection of the dedication of our wonderful volunteer team, who generously gave their time to welcome guests, share the stories behind the artworks, and help connect collectors with the pieces they loved.

Thank you to everyone who supported the show, whether by purchasing artwork, volunteering, sponsoring, exhibiting, or visiting. Together, you've helped make the 2026 1770 Art Show another memorable celebration of art in our community.

We hope you enjoy this reel showcasing some of the artworks sold throughout the exhibition. ๐ŸŽจโœจ

๐ŸŽจ SCHOOL ARTS PROJECT 2026 ๐ŸŽจ

The 2026 School Arts Project once again showcased the incredible creativity of our region's young artists, with eight schools taking on this year's theme, "Above and Below."

Each school was challenged to create a 1000 x 1000mm canvas, and the way they interpreted the theme was nothing short of inspiring. From the skies above to the worlds beneath our feet and oceans below, every artwork told a unique story and reflected the imagination, talent and collaboration of the students involved.

We loved seeing the diverse ideas, artistic styles, and thoughtful concepts that emerged from each school. The finished collection was a true highlight of this year's 1770 Art Show and a wonderful celebration of youth creativity.

A huge thank you to all participating schools, teachers, and students for embracing the challenge and bringing this year's theme to life.

Keep an eye out over the coming year - you may spot some of these incredible artworks proudly displayed at our local Bendigo Bank.

One more shout out to our SAP long term Sponsors Karen & Peter Thompson and Josef & Renate Konrad

A special thank you to Taurean Roe and his family for once again joining us at the Gala Opening Night.

Taurean's Welcome to Country and moving didgeridoo performance provided a powerful opening to the evening, reminding us of the importance of connection to Country, culture and community.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Taurean and his family as part of our Agnes Water / 1770 community, and we thank them for sharing their knowledge, generosity and talent with us once again.

Thank you for helping make the 1770 Art Show Gala event such a memorable occasion.

As the curtain closes on the 2026 1770 Art Show, our President has spent the last few hours finalising the official close of what has been our biggest show to date.

Over the coming days, our committee will be busy wrapping up the final details, including reconciling artwork sales, confirming prize winners, and conducting a final check of the People's Choice Award before all award recipients are officially announced.

With hundreds of artworks, artists, sales, awards, volunteers, sponsors, and visitors contributing to the success of this year's event, there is a significant amount of work happening behind the scenes to ensure everything is accurate and accounted for.

We appreciate everyone's patience as we complete this process. Thank you to our artists, sponsors, volunteers, visitors, and supporters who helped make the 2026 1770 Art Show such an incredible success.

Stay tuned - award announcements will be coming soon!
