MOBI-MAT UPDATE 🌊🧑🏻‍🦽☀️

Thank you to all the kind, caring people who have recently expressed interest in the Mobi-Mat. Your words have been encouraging for HOA to make this decision now, and hopefully this will answer any questions.

It is time to make the resource available to another established community group to potentially take it over... and Heart of Agnes would love to talk to any local groups to explore that as a feasible, sustainable addition to their current volunteer-base and operational capabilities.

There is one essential consideration for its future success, and handover.

Consistency/quantity of volunteers was challenging; and it would be very disappointing for the mat to end up in different storage due to the same problem. It's important that it be available to a reliable public schedule; regardless of that chosen schedule.

What this looks like in reality, is an existing local group with those volunteers and resources in place. What this doesn't look like, and can't really look like, is an ad hoc reaction to Facebook "enquiries" 7 months after it ceased regular rollout. It is a valuable service that must be approached with professional integrity and demonstrated capacity.

For anyone suggesting the Surf Club, or those even demanding it be "returned to the surf club".... please know that Agnes Water SLS were instrumental in supporting the Mobi-Mat by providing local storage; but at no time did they express an interest in operating it. Of course, do reach out to them if you feel this is in error... but it was happily run alongside them with this understanding.

The level of gratitude from Mobi-Mat users was overwhelming, which was the point of the project; to create meaningful benefit and social inclusion for our community and its visitors.

We sincerely hope it can find a new Aggie organisation with the passion and ability to keep it rolling.
