Day 2 of Seminars & Studios 📚
 
Here are some impressions from another day of learning, exchanging ideas and challenging perspectives at EFA26.
 
Through participatory and interdisciplinary formats, participants are tackling some of Europe’s most pressing challenges: from climate and security to finance and democracy.
 
And today, the EFA Labs kick off: bringing together curated groups of experts for intensive workshops, co-creation and new approaches to Europe’s challenges.

🗣️ VOICES FOR HUMANITY AND DEMOCRACY 🗣️

This year at the European Forum Alpbach, Club Alpbach Tirol and other members of the Forum Alpbach Network wanted to create space for voices and perspectives that too often aren’t given a big stage: humanitarian workers and activists, people working in and affected by crises, dedicating their work to making a difference.

This project sits at the intersection of the Security and Art Track of the European Forum Alpbach (EFA) . We invite everyone to join a humanitarian photo exhibit that looks for light in darkness and captures moments of hope, humanity, and connection amid wars and crises. Alongside this, we will shift the focus of security and geopolitical discussions to personal and hands-on experiences in very special sessions, bringing together inspiring individuals such as Mattia @ Mikheil Lazginiani and artists Maria Stronska Ivanna and Soraya Hossaini.

FAN Throwback Series: FAN Retreats ✨

FANB? FANC? FANBs 🐝 FANCY? 😅

If you are coming to the Forum for the first time, you will probably hear these words a lot. So, before we all get lost in the acronyms, here is a little FAN 101: what do these teams actually do, and who can you reach out to? 🤍

Let’s start with FANC, the FAN Committee🥂

Nadja, Jadran, Theodora, Franziska and Angelina are our current FANC members, elected for a one-year term. They are behind many of the social moments that make the Forum feel like more than just a packed programme. 🌟

From meet-ups to spontaneous gatherings, FANC brings the community together through what we lovingly call "FANCY events" 😎 So keep an eye on the EFA26 programme, there might also be a few surprises along the way... 🫰🏻

And then there is FANB, the FAN Board ✨

Harald, Celina, Thomas, Melanie, Prosper and Nino currently make up FANB. Unlike FANC, FANB members serve a three-year mandate and work on the network throughout the year. ✨

What does that actually mean? A lot of calls, coordination, acronyms and, most importantly, work behind the scenes to keep the FAN community connected. 🤍

From weekly JFX sessions and coordination with the EFA team to working with FAN clubs, advisory boards and mentors, FANB connects different parts of the community and coordinates FAN’s annual spring and fall conferences. Chair Harald and Vice Chair Celina also represent FAN on the EFA Board.

And because most of this work happens online, we recently brought both teams together offline for strategy sessions talking, planning and figuring out how to make FAN initiatives even more useful and relevant for the community. ✨

One of our favourite things about FAN is seeing how people who once joined the Forum as scholarship holders gradually become the people shaping the community themselves. 🥹

Today’s FAN member can be tomorrow’s club leader, mentor, FANC or FANB member. So if you are wondering, "Okay, but how do I get involved?”👀 stay tuned. 😇

FAN Board 2022-25 Wrapped: It’s a wrap – and time to say FANBye! After a thorough handover and some slow goodbyes, the FAN Board 2022–25 is officially passing on the baton. 🤝

Serving the Forum Alpbach Network and the over the past three years has been a privilege and pleasure. We are deeply grateful for the trust, openness, collaboration and countless Alpbach moments shared with the Board, team, advisory bodies and the wider community — in meetings, over meals / drinks, with big ideas and plenty of laughter. 🥂

We are delighted to see a strong, diverse and highly motivated new FAN Board (2025-28) take over and already make their mark: .moser .k .panjakidze . You’re already doing great and we can’t wait to see what more you’ll accomplish. We’re cheering you on! 👏

To everyone we worked with along the way: thank you. It has been a pleasure, an honor and a blast. Don’t be a stranger. Odds are, we’ll see each other again – even in Alpbach. ⛰️
