The Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) is a professional working group devoted to protecting the environment through means of education, action programs and community involvement. EEG is actively encouraged and supported by concerned local and federal government agencies. It is the first environmental NGO in the world to be ISO 14001 certified and the only organization of its kind in the UAE with accredited status to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)’s Governing Council, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). EEG successfully established the United Nations Global Compact Local Network for the GCC States. EEG is open to men and women of all nationalities, as well as to public and private organizations, academic establishments and international institutions.

في 14 نوفمبر 2026، تعود حملة جمع علب الألمنيوم التي تنظمها مجموعة عمل الإمارات للبيئة في دورتها الـ30، بعد ثلاثة عقود من تحويل عنصر يومي بسيط إلى مشاركة بيئية جماعية.

والوقت مناسب للبدء من الآن.

في المنزل، وفي المكتب، وفي المدرسة، وفي الجامعة، وخلال الفعاليات. كل علبة ألمنيوم تحتفظون بها من اليوم وحتى موعد الحملة يمكن أن تضاف إلى ما نحققه معاً.

ويمكن لإعادة تدوير الألمنيوم أن توفر ما يصل إلى 95% من الطاقة اللازمة لإنتاج ألمنيوم جديد من المواد الخام.

لذلك، قبل أن تصل علبة الألمنيوم التالية إلى سلة النفايات، فكروا مرة أخرى.

OFFICE WASTE OR A RESOURCE WAITING TO BE RECOVERED?

Every used toner cartridge contains materials that should not simply end up in landfill.

EEG participants recycled 196 toner cartridges during September, bringing the total collected since January 2026 to 1,583 cartridges.

The opportunity is sitting in workplaces all around us. Offices, schools, universities and organisations can make toner cartridge collection part of their everyday waste management practices — turning a routine office item into a resource for recovery.

This October, take a closer look at your printer stations, storage rooms and offices. Collect what has been used and make sure it reaches the right recycling stream.

Don’t discard it. Return it to the cycle.

تحتوي كل خرطوشة حبر مستخدمة على مواد لا ينبغي أن ينتهي بها المطاف في مكبات النفايات.

تمكن المشاركون مع مجموعة عمل الإمارات للبيئة من إعادة تدوير 196 خرطوشة حبر خلال شهر سبتمبر، ليصل إجمالي ما تم جمعه منذ يناير 2026 إلى 1,583 خرطوشة حبر.

وتوجد فرصة كبيرة داخل أماكن العمل من حولنا. فالمكاتب والمدارس والجامعات والمؤسسات يمكنها إدراج جمع خزاطيش الحبر ضمن ممارساتها اليومية لإدارة النفايات، وتحويل هذا العنصر المكتبي المعتاد إلى مواد يمكن استردادها والاستفادة منها من جديد.

وخلال شهر أكتوبر، ألقوا نظرة على محطات الطباعة وغرف التخزين والمكاتب لديكم. اجمعوا خزاطيش الحبر المستخدمة ووجهوها إلى مسار إعادة التدوير الصحيح.

يقترب موسم الزراعة، وتستعد مجموعة عمل الإمارات للبيئة لغرس المزيد من الأشجار عبر حملة «تبنَّ شجرة»، التي تتيح للأفراد والعائلات والمدارس والجامعات والمؤسسات تحويل التزامهم البيئي إلى أثر ملموس ينمو عاماً بعد عام.

فالشجرة التي تُزرع اليوم يمكن أن توفر الظل، وتدعم التنوع البيولوجي، وتسهم في زيادة المساحات الخضراء لسنوات طويلة. كما تحمل كل شجرة رسالة بسيطة مفادها أن العمل البيئي الهادف يمكن أن يبدأ بقرار واحد.

ONE CAN. 95% LESS ENERGY. A LOT MORE IMPACT.

An empty aluminium can may look insignificant, but recycling it can save up to 95% of the energy required to produce aluminium from raw materials.

That is why every can matters.

EEG participants have now collectively recycled 14,931 kg of aluminium cans, reaching 35.1% of our 2026 target of 42,500 kg.

THE WARNING SIGNS ARE HERE. ARE WE ACTING FAST ENOUGH?

Drought is no longer a distant threat. According to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), 75% of the Earth’s land has become drier over the past three decades, while droughts have increased in number and duration by nearly 30% since 2000.
Today, technology can help identify water stress and ecosystem decline before they become full-scale crises. But early warning only works when it leads to early action.
At the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), we believe resilience means acting before crisis strikes — protecting natural resources, strengthening ecosystems and translating knowledge into action.

إشارات التحذير أمامنا... فهل نتحرك بالسرعة الكافية؟

لم يعد الجفاف تهديداً بعيداً. فوفقاً لاتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لمكافحة التصحر، أصبحت 75% من أراضي كوكب الأرض أكثر جفافاً خلال العقود الثلاثة الماضية، فيما ارتفع عدد موجات الجفاف ومدتها بنحو 30% منذ عام 2000.
واليوم، تتيح لنا التكنولوجيا رصد مؤشرات الإجهاد المائي وتراجع النظم البيئية قبل أن تتحول إلى أزمات واسعة النطاق. لكن قيمة الإنذار المبكر لا تتحقق إلا عندما يتبعه تحرك مبكر.

MOBILISING CAPITAL WHERE IT CAN CREATE THE GREATEST IMPACT

Turning sustainable development ambitions into reality requires more than commitments — it requires investment at scale.
Recent work by the Global Investors for Sustainable Development (GISD) Alliance is advancing this agenda across several fronts.
In Kenya, GISD convened a public-private dialogue to explore investment opportunities linked to the National Energy Compact and an infrastructure pipeline valued at more than USD 8.5 billion.
The Alliance is also engaging on how financial regulation can better reflect the actual risk profile of sustainable investments in emerging and developing economies, while its Blended Finance Workstream continues to explore innovative mechanisms capable of mobilising private capital at scale.
Together, these efforts reinforce an important message:
Sustainable development needs investable solutions — and stronger collaboration between public and private capital to bring them to life.

توجيه رأس المال نحو الفرص القادرة على تحقيق الأثر الأكبر

تحويل طموحات التنمية المستدامة إلى واقع يتطلب أكثر من التزامات، بل يحتاج إلى استثمارات بالحجم الذي يواكب هذه الطموحات.
وتعمل مبادرة المستثمرين العالميين من أجل التنمية المستدامة (GISD) مؤخراً على دفع هذا التوجه عبر عدد من المسارات.
ففي كينيا، جمعت المبادرة ممثلين من القطاعين العام والخاص لمناقشة فرص استثمارية مرتبطة بالميثاق الوطني للطاقة، إلى جانب مجموعة من مشاريع البنية التحتية تتجاوز قيمتها 8.5 مليار دولار أمريكي.
كما تواصل المبادرة العمل على بحث السبل التي يمكن من خلالها للأطر التنظيمية المالية أن تعكس بصورة أدق مستويات المخاطر الفعلية للاستثمارات المستدامة في الاقتصادات الناشئة والنامية، في الوقت الذي يواصل فيه فريق العمل المعني بالتمويل المختلط دراسة آليات تمويل مبتكرة قادرة على استقطاب رؤوس الأموال الخاصة على نطاق واسع.
وتؤكد هذه الجهود مجتمعة رسالة واضحة:
التنمية المستدامة تحتاج إلى حلول قابلة للاستثمار، وإلى تعاون أقوى بين رأس المال العام والخاص لتحويل هذه الحلول إلى واقع.

FROM PAPER TO PLANET — KEEPING STUDENTS PART OF THE ACTION

With the 25th Cycle of EEG’s Clean UAE Campaign taking place from 5th–15th December 2026, during the academic winter break, EEG wanted to ensure that students and schools still have a meaningful way to contribute to this milestone year.
That is where From Paper to Planet comes in.
This dedicated initiative invites schools to mobilise their students to collect waste paper for recycling, turning everyday materials into measurable environmental action.
And the impact goes beyond recycling.
Schools that successfully achieve the programme target will earn the planting of 12 indigenous tree saplings in the school’s name through EEG’s For Our Emirates We Plant initiative.
From collecting paper to planting trees, students can see how one environmental action can lead directly to another.
THIS WINTER, THE CLASSROOM MAY BE CLOSED — BUT ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION DOESN’T HAVE TO STOP.

من الورق إلى كوكب أكثر استدامة... لإبقاء الطلبة جزءاً من العمل البيئي

تنطلق الدورة الـ25 من حملة «الإمارات نظيفة» التي تنظمها مجموعة عمل الإمارات للبيئة خلال الفترة من 5 إلى 15 ديسمبر 2026، بالتزامن مع عطلة الشتاء المدرسية. ومن هنا حرصت المجموعة على إتاحة فرصة هادفة للطلبة والمدارس للمشاركة في هذه الدورة المميزة.
وهنا تأتي مبادرة «من الورق إلى كوكب أكثر استدامة».
تدعو المبادرة المدارس إلى إشراك طلبتها في جمع الورق المستعمل لإعادة تدويره، وتحويل مادة نستخدمها يومياً إلى مساهمة بيئية يمكن قياس أثرها.
ولا يتوقف الأثر عند إعادة التدوير.
فالمدارس التي تنجح في تحقيق الهدف المحدد ضمن البرنامج ستحصل على فرصة زراعة 12 شتلة من الأشجار المحلية باسم المدرسة، من خلال مبادرة مجموعة عمل الإمارات للبيئة «شجرة في المجتمع... جذور توحدنا».
من جمع الورق إلى زراعة الأشجار، يمكن للطلبة أن يروا بصورة مباشرة كيف يمكن لمبادرة بيئية واحدة أن تقود إلى أثر آخر يمتد لسنوات.
هذا الشتاء، قد تُغلق الفصول الدراسية... لكن العمل من أجل البيئة لا يتوقف.

YOUR OLD ELECTRONICS STILL HAVE VALUE.

A phone that no longer works. An outdated laptop. A broken electronic device. They may look like waste, but the materials inside them can still be recovered and returned to use.
EEG has collected 10,927 kg of e-waste so far, reaching 42% of our 2026 target of 26,100 kg.
October is especially significant as International E-Waste Day falls on 14th October — a timely reminder that what we do with our discarded electronics matters.
Responsible recycling helps prevent hazardous materials from entering the environment while recovering valuable metals, plastics and other resources.
This October, look around. What electronic waste can you keep out of landfill?
Clear it out. Recycle it responsibly. Give its resources another life.
