The Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) is a professional working group devoted to protecting the environment through means of education, action programs and community involvement. EEG is actively encouraged and supported by concerned local and federal government agencies. It is the first environmental NGO in the world to be ISO 14001 certified and the only organization of its kind in the UAE with

accredited status to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)’s Governing Council, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). EEG successfully established the United Nations Global Compact Local Network for the GCC States. EEG is open to men and women of all nationalities, as well as to public and private organizations, academic establishments and international institutions.

The anticipation continues to build as we approach the 29th Cycle of the Emirates Recycling Awards, one of the UAE’s most longstanding environmental recognition platforms.

This special occasion will bring together government representatives, diplomats, academia, corporates, media and civil society to celebrate outstanding contributions towards recycling and sustainable environmental practices.

Organised by Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) in conjunction with World Environment Day 2026, the ceremony represents the collective spirit of partnership, progress and environmental responsibility.

Glass recycling efforts have shown encouraging progress as more participants contribute towards circular resource management. Out of our 2026 target of 233,000 kg, we have collected 57,154 kg by the end of May, representing 24.5% achievement of our annual goal.

Recycling glass conserves raw materials and significantly reduces industrial energy usage.

حققت جهود إعادة تدوير الزجاج تقدماً مشجعاً مع ازدياد عدد المشاركين في إدارة الموارد بطريقة مستدامة. من هدفنا لعام ٢٠٢٦ البالغ 233,000 كيلوغراماً، جمعنا 57,154 كيلوغراماً بنهاية شهر مايو، ما يمثل 24.5% من هدفنا السنوي.

Only three days remain until the 29th Cycle of the Emirates Recycling Awards — an inspiring celebration of environmental leadership and community-driven sustainability efforts across the UAE.

Held under the patronage and presence of H.H. Eng. Sheikh Salem bin Sultan bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the event reflects the nation’s growing commitment towards responsible waste management, recycling culture and sustainable development.

يُقام هذا الحدث تحت رعاية وحضور سمو الشيخ سالم بن سلطان بن صقر القاسمي، ويعكس التزام الدولة المتزايد بالإدارة المسؤولة للنفايات، وثقافة إعادة التدوير، والتنمية المستدامة.

Our e-waste recycling initiative continues to create measurable environmental impact through responsible disposal practices. With a 2026 target of 26,100 kg, we have achieved 6,569 kg by the end of May, accomplishing 25.2% of our annual collection goal.

Proper recycling of electronic waste helps recover valuable metals while preventing toxic substances from contaminating the environment.

تواصل مبادرتنا لإعادة تدوير النفايات الإلكترونية إحداث أثر بيئي ملموس من خلال ممارسات التخلص المسؤولة. وبهدفنا لعام ٢٠٢٦ المتمثل في جمع 26,100 كيلوغرام، حققنا 6,569 كيلوغرام بنهاية شهر مايو، أي ما يعادل 25.2% من هدفنا السنوي.

The Journey Begins!

Today marks the official rolling out of the 16th Cycle of the Neighbourhood Recycling Project (NRP) 2026, organised by the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG).

For the next four months, students across the UAE will step forward as environmental ambassadors, engaging their communities in meaningful recycling action and promoting the values of responsibility, sustainability and collective environmental stewardship.

Since its inception in 2010, the project has empowered young minds to transform awareness into action while contributing towards the UAE’s sustainability vision and global environmental goals.

As we commence another impactful cycle, we look forward to witnessing inspiring youth-led initiatives that continue to strengthen communities and protect our planet for generations to come.

انطلاق الرحلة!

يُصادف اليوم الإطلاق الرسمي للدورة السادسة عشرة من مشروع إعادة تدوير الأحياء 2026، الذي تنظمه مجموعة عمل الإمارات للبيئة.

على مدار الأشهر الأربعة القادمة، سيتبوأ طلاب من مختلف أنحاء دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة مكانةً رائدةً كسفراء للبيئة، مُشاركين مجتمعاتهم في مبادرات إعادة تدوير فعّالة، ومُعززين قيم المسؤولية والاستدامة والمسؤولية البيئية الجماعية.

منذ انطلاقه عام 2010، ساهم المشروع في تمكين الشباب وتحويل الوعي إلى عمل، مُساهمًا في تحقيق رؤية دولة الإمارات للاستدامة والأهداف البيئية العالمية.

مع انطلاق هذه الدورة المؤثرة، نتطلع إلى رؤية مبادرات مُلهمة يقودها الشباب، تُواصل تعزيز المجتمعات وحماية كوكبنا للأجيال القادمة.

Paper recycling continues to gather momentum as communities embrace more sustainable habits. Against our 2026 collection target of 1,595,000 kg, we have successfully collected 434,015 kg of paper by the end of May, reaching 27.2% of our yearly objective.

Every sheet recycled contributes towards conserving forests, reducing landfill pressure, and lowering energy consumption associated with paper production.
Together, we are building a cleaner and more resource-efficient future.

تتزايد شعبية إعادة تدوير الورق مع تبني افراد المجتمع لعادات أكثر استدامة. وبالنظر الى هدفنا بجمع 1,595,000 كيلوغرامًا في عام ٢٠٢٦، نجحنا في جمع 434,015 كيلوغرامًا من الورق حتى نهاية مايو، محققين بذلك 27.2% من هدفنا السنوي.

تساهم كل ورقة يُعاد تدويرها في الحفاظ على الغابات، وتخفيف الضغط على مكبات النفايات، وخفض استهلاك الطاقة المرتبط بإنتاج الورق. معًا، نبني مستقبلًا أنظف وأكثر كفاءة في استخدام الموارد.

Africa has taken a major step forward in accelerating the global clean energy transition, with over USD 11 billion in renewable energy investments announced during the recent France-Africa Summit held in Nairobi in May 2026. The landmark agreements include large-scale solar, wind, hydropower and sustainable aviation fuel projects aimed at strengthening energy security, reducing emissions and expanding clean energy access across the continent.

The Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) proudly marks the successful conclusion of Phase 1 of the 17th cycle of "One Root, One…Communi-tree" (OROC) project, conducted from 26th January to 26th May 2026.

The impact achieved during this phase stands as a testament to the commitment of individuals, academic institutions, corporates and government entities who came together to drive meaningful change. The total collections and environmental benefits are highlighted in the poster—each figure representing a step forward in waste reduction, resource conservation and climate action.

As we progress into Phase 2, the momentum continues. Together, we are not just recycling—we are building a lasting legacy for a greener future.

تُعلن مجموعة عمل الإمارات للبيئة عن اختتام المرحلة الأولى بنجاح من الدورة السابعة عشرة لمشروع "شجرة فى المجتمع جذور توحدنا"، والتي نُفذت في الفترة من 26 يناير إلى 26 مايو 2026.

ويُعدّ الأثر الذي تحقق خلال هذه المرحلة دليلاً على التزام الأفراد والمؤسسات الأكاديمية والشركات والجهات الحكومية التي تضافرت جهودها لإحداث تغيير ملموس. ويُبرز الملصق إجمالي عمليات الجمع والفوائد البيئية، حيث يُمثل كل رقم خطوةً متقدمة نحو الحد من النفايات والحفاظ على الموارد والعمل المناخي.
