Today, we join the rest of the continent in commemorating the Day of the African Child, honouring the courage of the children of Soweto who stood up for their rights and inspiring us to continue advocating for every child's right to survive, learn, and thrive.

This year's theme reminds us that access to clean water, safe sanitation, and good hygiene is more than a basic necessity—it is a fundamental right that protects children's health, preserves their dignity, supports their education, and promotes their mental and emotional wellbeing.

At The BRAVE Foundation, we recognize that children cannot reach their full potential when they face preventable illnesses, unsafe environments, or barriers to basic services. A healthy environment creates the foundation for resilience, learning, positive development, and hope.

As we work to strengthen children's mental health and psychosocial wellbeing, we also acknowledge that safe water and sanitation are essential in creating secure and nurturing spaces where children can grow with confidence and dignity.

Today, we call upon governments, communities, schools, families, and partners to work together to ensure that no child is left behind. Every child deserves access to clean water, safe sanitation facilities, and hygiene practices that safeguard their health and future.

Together, let us build an Africa where every child is healthy, protected, heard, and empowered to become the leader of tomorrow.

Happy Day of the African Child 2026.

"Every child deserves the opportunity to survive, learn, heal, and thrive in a safe and healthy environment."

As we commemorate Women’s Month and International Women’s Day, The BRAVE Foundation celebrates the strength, courage, and resilience of women and girls in our communities.

Through our work, we meet many women and girls who carry difficult and adverse experiences, yet continue to show remarkable bravery in seeking healing, safety, and a better future. Their journeys remind us that mental health and emotional wellbeing are essential to living full and empowered lives.

At BRAVE, we are committed to creating safe and supportive spaces where women and girls can speak openly, access care, and receive the psychosocial support they need to heal and thrive. We recognise that when women’s mental health and wellbeing are supported, families and communities become stronger.

This Women’s Month, we honour every woman and girl who chooses courage, healing, and hope. Your bravery inspires the work that we do every day.

Happy International Women’s Day.
