Bhejane is a Rhino and wildlife non-profit conservation organization based out of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe and have been operating since 2010.

Bhejane Trust (“Bhejane” is the local Ndebele name for Black Rhino) is a non-profit wildlife conservation organization based out of Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Bhejane Trust is not only based around monitoring and tracking of Black Rhino but work with and assist the National Parks Authority of Zimbabwe in wildlife area rehabilitation, anti-poaching efforts, road repairs and maintenance, research and

💦A Recent Trip Through Sinamatella!💦

With the seasons shifting and the rains now a distant memory our water for wildlife work begins in earnest.

We have just got back from a trip through Sinamatella to kick off the season and get our water program on track for the dry months ahead.

The bush is definitely changing, but we were pleasantly surprised with the amount of natural water around. It truly was a great rainy season!

All signs suggest that we can expect a fairly low pressure dry period yet that does not make our water for wildlife work any less important. Our busy period starts now as we ensure that our water infrastructure is working at capacity. We have learnt that it is much easier to maintain already full pans rather than let them dry out and try to fill them up again.

This trip was not without its hurdles. As can be seen by the last two pictures! Coming out of the back areas we approached Big Shumba en route to our overnight stop. We were met with a swollen pan with water right across the road.

With the sun setting we opted to give it a go and attempt to get across to the other side. About half way through, we were doing well and then we slipped off the road and found ourselves wheel spinning in the soft mud. We were stuck.

Fortunately, and thanks to Elon Musk and his starlink, we were able to call for help and were pulled out by a tractor. Thank you Camp Hwange! Never a dull moment in the bush.

Besides this minor inconvenience, we were very happy with the state of our water infrastructure. A few inevitable repair and maintenance issues, but for the most part everything is running well.

As the bush continues to dry out the herds will descend. Our water work becomes the primary life source for tens of thousands of animals. We are prepared and ready for the months ahead.

Every rhino protected is a step toward preserving our natural heritage for generations to come. Together, we can help ensure they are never lost to extinction.

The rains have been generous this year—bringing life back to the bush, filling pans, and painting the landscape green. But as the land begins to dry, that same growth becomes fuel.
Wildfire season is here.

Across Zimbabwe’s wild spaces, the risk of uncontrolled fires rises sharply threatening wildlife, habitats, and the delicate balance that a good rainy season worked so hard to restore.

Fire management and early response are critical in protecting these ecosystems before flames take hold.

It only takes one spark.
Be mindful. Report fires early. And help us protect what the rains have given.

In a place like Hwange National Park, water doesn’t just sustain life, it controls it.

Our pumped waterholes play a critical role in shaping how wildlife moves across the landscape. During the dry season, when natural sources disappear, these pumped water points become lifelines drawing animals in from miles away.

This creates predictable movement patterns, concentrates wildlife, and supports species that would otherwise struggle to survive in such a harsh environment.

🏆Great Week for Anti-Poaching🏆

Our Coalition has two major Anti-Poaching operations.
In Victoria Falls under the
Victoria Falls Anti Poaching Unit and in Hwange National Park under Bhejane Trust

Both recorded fantastic wins this past week. Apprehending suspects and protecting our wild landscapes.

Victoria Falls saw two good arrests. Both suspects targeting smaller animals such as small antelope, hares and game birds.

The first was a 4 day operation which led to the arrest of a known culprit and the recovery of over 145 snares. Mostly thin gauge wire set close to the ground targeting smaller animals.
However, each one of these had the potential of causing untold harm and suffering to all types of animals.

The second was a suspect caught exiting the bush with evidence of bush meat. Upon apprehension and further investigation he was arrested for his crimes.
The Hwange team also had a great win.
On a routine patrol, a fresh snare line was discovered. Signs on the ground showed that the suspect had checked his traps recently. The team set out an ambush and after several days, affected a successful arrest.

A total of 14 heavy duty snares were recovered, each set over animals paths, poised to trap its unsuspecting victim.
We praise the efforts of these Anti-Poaching teams. Your hard work, patience and perseverance IS making a difference, and better protecting our animals.
