The marginalising forces of nationalism and colonisation have pushed multilingualism to the brink of collapse in Zimbabwe. The San/Tjwao language in Zimbabwe is becoming increasingly rare and endangered and is being increasingly replaced by various economically, politically and socio-cultural dominant ones. It has less than ten speakers and the number of speakers is fast diminishing. With the speakers of Tjwao dying, the nation loses generations of traditional knowledge encoded in this ancestral tongue.

We are dedicated to rescue Tjwao language, restoring it to vital use and safeguarding it for future generations.
