Centre for the Development of Women and Children (CDWC) is strengthening its commitment to leaving no woman behind as it attends a vital 3-day Basic Sign Language Training (June 10–12, 2026) hosted by the Women's Coalition of Zimbabwe (WCoZ) in partnership with Deaf Women Included. For CDWC, which works directly on the ground supporting rural women farmers, building this capacity is essential to breaking communication barriers and ensuring our climate justice, Transformative Feminist Leadership, and GBV programmes are fully accessible to women of all abilities. By equipping ourselves with these skills, we are enhancing our ability to provide inclusive service delivery and effectively communicate with deaf survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), ensuring that the most marginalized voices in our farming communities are heard, protected, and empowered.

CDWC attended a FACE regional review meeting in South Africa from the 1st to the 3rd of June at Melrose Place in Johannesburg. This strategic three-day workshop focused on harvesting and documenting proven lessons from the FACE Project, placing a strong emphasis on sharing scalable best practices and innovative methodologies to tackle Climate Change. Key discussions centered on the intersecting issues of climate justice and gender/feminism, exploring powerful advocacy strategies, and highlighting artivism as a vital tool for grassroots mobilization. Crucially, in as much as funding is coming, women are actively demanding justice and urging major emitters to stop. Furthermore, as this funding cycle concludes, the project leaves behind a powerful model of localization because resources were channeled directly to the people most affected allowing them to lead the processes entirely local communities have achieved true ownership of the initiatives, ensuring that the power handed back to them will continue to drive lasting, impactful, and sustainable change.

CDWC was proud to join the Ministry of Women Affairs and UN Women for the Stakeholder Consultations on the National Country Gender Equality Profile. This was a landmark opportunity for CSOs to input into a document that will define the future of gender equality programming in Zimbabwe. Our mantra remains clear: policies must reflect the lived realities of rural women and children. CDWC continues to champion their voices, ensuring they are at the heart of every national conversation.

The Centre for the Development of Women and Children (CDWC) is actively participating in today's High-Level Political Compact (HLPC) Accountability Indaba organised by Women's Coalition of Zimbawe.
