It is with deep grief that we inform all the members of the Citizens Movement that the Democracy Fraternity has been robbed of one of its strong pillar in The Mash Best Province.

Everess Dura, well known for her Activism in Mash Best had been promoted to Glory leaving a void which is difficult to fill. She is one of the strong, dedicated and loyal cadres who turned Mash West into Mash Best at a time when Opposition Activism was considered Treasonous.

As a Virgilant Democrat, she teamed up with other brave Democrats to fight The ZANU PF Hegemony in Hurungwe which was a NO GO area for the opposition then. Thanks to her and many of her colleagues,Hurungwe was freed from the clutches of ZANU PF resulting in Opposition Activism becoming part of the society with Opposition taking over KAROI Town Council and a rural seat.

Champion Everess Dura moved to Sanyati where her family was and continued with her Activism until her unfortunate passing on.

The Citizens Movement has been robbed of a sister, aunt, cadre, dedicated and loyal soldier, unwavering commander,a unifier and a God fearing Servant leader.

The void she has left is too big to be filled by anyone or anything.

Our deepest condolences goes to President Advocate Nelson Chamisa and the generality of the Citizens Movement,The Mash and Dura Families,The Mashonaland West Citizens and particularly Sanyati and Magunje Constituencies.

We pledge to keep on fighting for what she believed in.She Believed in A Zimbabwe for All,this we pledge with our all that we will not rest until we bring the struggle to it's logical conclusion.

MAY SHE REST IN POWER TILL WE MEET AGAIN.

On 24 November 2001, six Zimbabwe National Army soldiers attacked 23-year-old University of Zimbabwe student Lameck Chemvura aboard a passenger train travelling from Harare to Mutare, accusing him of supporting the MDC.

They closed in around Chemvura, trapping him inside the crowded railway carriage before unleashing a relentless barrage of punches and booted kicks while petrified passengers looked on helplessly.

The assault continued through the coach until one of the soldiers seized Chemvura by the throat, forced him onto the floor and strangled him while pinning his body beneath his weight.

By the time the soldier loosened his grip, Chemvura was dead.

They then lifted his body, dragged it to the train door and threw it onto the railway tracks near Nyazura.

The 23-year-old had boarded as a promising university student.

He returned to his family in a coffin.

ZANU-PF's soldiers murdered Lameck Chemvura.

Veteran David Charirwe Has Passed On

15 June 2026

This serves to inform you that the veteran of the democratic struggle, David Charirwe, has passed on. On 13 June 2026 he succumbed to complications that emanated from injuries sustained from the pitbull dog bite towards the end of 2025. He has been on and off sick since the pitbull dog bites.

He was born at Morgenster Mission hospital in Masvingo on 4 October 1964. His late father, Steven M Charirwe and late
mother, Erina Grace Magwimbe, welcomed the birth of twin boys in 1964, whom they named David and Jonathan.

David Charirwe received his education at Chamarare primary school and
Zimuto Secondary school, in the Zimuto area of Masvingo. He then trained as a Counter Clerk with POSB. He had served continously in Zimpost since joining in 1984.
He was the Postal Manager in Masvingo at the time of his death.

David Charirwe joined the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) from its infancy in 1999. He rose the democratic ranks to become a chairperson of Masvingo province at some time, and remained consistent and persistent during the twist and turns of opposition politics until his death. He was also an active member of the Veteran Activists Association Zimbabwe (VAAZ)

He is survived by his wife Vongai nee Jaunda, and three children, Steven (+263772618001) and Erasmus (males) and Blessing (female), and six grandchildren.

He will be buried at his rural home in Dora near Mutare on Wednesday. Jonathan remembers his brother "as a pillar of strength and inspiration to the whole family". He was a responsible father to his family, a brother and comrade in the democratic struggle to many of us. We want to express our heartfelt condolences to the family and all democrats as VAAZ for the untimely death of one of us, a decorated cadre of the democratic struggle, who unreservedly and unflinchingly stood with the suffering masses of Zimbabwe at a time when many sold out the democratic struggle for a piece of silver. Go well Charirwe for you fought a good fight in your lifetime. We will continue to water the spirit of liberty in Zimbabwe and complete the unfinished business that we started together in 1999. The only way forward is going forward.

THE DEBATE THAT NEVER WAS - DECEIT & COUP ON THE CONSTITUTION. WE NEED A WAY FORWARD ZIMBABWE: THE VETERAN ACTIVISTS ASSOCIATION ZIMBABWE (VAAZ)

Revolutionary Greetings fellow Citizens. We meet again at a time when our nation is grappling under political uncertainty following the brazen attempt by the Regime to force unpalatable Constitutional Amendments on the Nation.

As both Citizens and Stockholders of this once Great Nation, we condemn the second phase of the as much as we condemned its fake and choreographed so-called consultation process which was not only chaotic but did not meet the SADC, AU and Zimbabwean principles and guidelines on Constitutional Amendments.

For starters, the doctoring of figures to mislead the Nation and International Community into believing that 99.99% were in agreement with the proposed amendments is not only an Ananias and Sapphira Act of dishonesty and abomination, but also a brazen coup on the National Constitution, and subversion of the people's will.

Secondly, the Debate on the Bill in Parliament is not in the true spirit and modus operandi of an important Bill of this nature. The attempt to muzzle discerning voices is not only unfortunate but callous. Zimbabweans will never accept the sweeping of their legitimate concerns under the carpet neither shall the "berekamwana" archaic process to voting be applauded and treated as business as usual.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is a fact that the Regime has destroyed the People's Constitution and is about to force its own on the Nation through its flawed processes. The people's input has been trashed, our only hope has been thrown under the bus, democracy is on the deathbed and the Nation is bleeding profusely.

As VAAZ, we maintain that the processes were marred by a web of falsehoods, calculated deceit and a conspiracy to effect a coup on the constitution of Zimbabwe. Above all, the Parliamentary debate on behalf of millions of Zimbabweans cannot be debated by merely 48 people. This makes the debate a discussion of friends rather than cogent debate to decide the future of more than 17 million people in Zimbabwe.

Resultantly, we conclude that the whole was a nullity, a farce and Zimbabwe deserves better than this mediocre choreographed drama thinly veiled as a National debate.

Fellow Zimbabweans, this is no longer the time to analyse, debate and its outcomes, but a time to come up with a clear way forward as a Nation. We need to open your eyes and realise, the writing is on the wall; CAB3 is done and dusted, the Regime has gotten its way by hook and crook. However, the battle has just begun and it is not a battle for positions nor a battle of personalities, but a battle to reclaim our sovereignty and constitutionalism as a Nation. No one person is more important than others in this battle. We need a collective fight to defend our sovereignty and constitution from marauding thugs who seek to entrench hegemonic power, cartelism and plunder in Zimbabwe.
