Strengthening Collaborative Action for CSE & SRH in Mazowe Rural District!
We have successfully hosted a dynamic collaboration, learning, movement‑building, and networking preparatory meeting with 19 non‑traditional Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) and Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) allies in Mazowe Rural District. This landmark gathering brought together influential voices from diverse sectors that do not traditionally engage in SRH work, creating a powerful platform for shared vision, dialogue, and collective commitment.
🎯 Key Objectives
1️⃣ Increase engagement among cross‑sector stakeholders and movements to strengthen support for CSE and SRH in Mazowe Rural District.
2️⃣ Secure support commitments from 19 non‑traditional CSE/SRH stakeholders to champion young people’s health and rights within their communities.
👥 Who Was in the Room?
The meeting brought together a rich mix of community influencers including:

-Religious leaders from various churches
-Village heads
-Male sports organizers and players
-Village head workers
-Ward councillors
-Youth representatives

By engaging leaders who hold community trust and influence, we are expanding the movement for CSE and SRH, ensuring young people have access to safe, informed, and supportive environments.

Yesterday, the much‑anticipated Health Service and Sports Gala was held at Glengrey Primary School in Mazowe, bringing excitement and unity to the community.

This annual gala, organized as part of our Unity Day celebrations, serves as a platform to bring together members of our farming communities in a spirit of togetherness and empowerment.

This year’s event featured two disciplines; football and netball; with community members enthusiastically participating. Beyond the competition, the games carried a deeper purpose: to raise awareness about the importance of education, not just for individual success, but as a collective investment in the community’s future.

Education remains the cornerstone of every child’s development. For the Mazowe community, it is seen as a powerful tool to combat pressing social challenges such as child marriages, poverty, and drug abuse. By nurturing education, the community continues to plant seeds of hope, resilience, and progress for generations to come.

✅ Use practical communication & advocacy skills to engage religious and traditional leaders
✅ Implement a community-specific CSE engagement workplan tailored to the Mazowe District
✅ Build an active network linking young women, religious & traditional leaders, and government representatives

This is more than training, it’s the start of a powerful movement to champion SRHR and CSE advocacy in Mazowe District.

Today, we are conducting a Comprehensive Sexuality Education Defenders Training in Tsungubvi. The training is designed to strengthen defenders’ competencies in engaging religious and traditional leaders to support the effective delivery of CSE both within schools and in community settings.

On this day, participants were introduced to the foundational principles of CSE and the legal frameworks that shape its implementation. Through these sessions, defenders are beginning to appreciate the broader context of vulnerabilities related to CSE, while recognizing emerging trends and patterns of associated challenges. This deeper understanding is equipping them to respond more effectively and advocate for inclusive, rights-based approaches to CSE.

Many young people have never attended any budget discussion , or even imagined that something as technical as the National Budget has a direct impact on their day-to-day lives. From the state of your classrooms, to access to sanitary wear, to whether your school receives new infrastructure or learning materials, the budget shapes your reality and your future.

Budget discussions aren’t just for economists or policymakers. They are about YOU, your education, your opportunities, your community, and the Zimbabwe you want to help build.
✨ Your voice matters. Understanding the budget is the first step. Engaging in it is the power.

As civil society, we encourage young people to step into these conversations, ask questions, attend consultations, and hold leaders accountable. Your engagement is essential in shaping a more transparent and responsive nation.

Today, we joined ECOZI Education Coalition of Zimbabwe - ecozi and fellow education stakeholders for the 2026 Post Budget Analysis to unpack what the new National Budget means for the education sector. The discussion highlighted both progress and urgent gaps that require stronger advocacy and investment.

📌 Insights From the Post-Budget Analysis:
• Education received 18.76% of the National Budget, the highest share, though still below international benchmarks.
• ECD funding remains extremely low, below the recommended 10% needed to support early learning.
• BEAM allocations remain under a different ministry, raising concerns about coordination and accountability.- especially late disbursements to schools.
• Stakeholders strongly called for ring-fencing natural resource revenues for school infrastructure development.
• Advocates emphasized the need to remove VAT on sanitary wear to improve access for girls.
• Renewed calls were made to finalize the School Financing Policy for transparency and equitable resource distribution.
• The sector highlighted the importance of domestic resource mobilization, public–private partnerships, and diaspora support to address school infrastructure deficits.

We remain committed to pushing for an inclusive, equitable, and fully funded education system that supports every learner — and we encourage young people to be part of the movement shaping Zimbabwe’s future. Today, FACET had the honour of joining Glengrey Primary School in Mazowe District for their Prize Giving Day — a celebration that touched our hearts deeply. Witnessing these young learners beam with pride, even in the face many. Chalkenges and limited educational resources, reminded us of the stark inequalities that many marginalised schools experience. Unlike other well-resourced schools that can easily fund activities that motivate learners, many underserved rural and farming communities schools struggle to provide even the simplest incentives to recognise academic achievement.

We believe every child deserves to be celebrated, encouraged, and given the same opportunities to succeed , no matter where they come from. This is why we remain committed to advocating for equitable education for marginalised communities and supporting schools that continue to do so much with so little. We were humbled to partner with Glengrey Primary School to make this day a succes, standing with them as they strive to inspire a culture of excellence despite the challenges they face.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the school authorities oGlengrey Primary for inviting us to be part of this special day. Through community engagement and strong partnerships with schools, FACET will continue championing education opportunities for all learners and working to close the gap between privileged and underserved communities. FACET at the 15th National Students Conference

From 24–25 November 2025, we participated in the National Students Conference hosted by Saywhat at the Harare Institute of Technology under the theme A Crystal Vision for Students’ Health and Education. During the event, we joined the GEAR Alliance side session on education and comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) in the region.

We observed that both Zimbabwe and Malawi continue to face significant barriers to providing free, equitable education, and that CSE remains a critical component of learners’ education, equipping children with the knowledge and skills to become empowered, resilient members of their communities.

We remain committed to advancing evidence‑based advocacy, strengthening partnerships, and supporting policies that expand access to quality education and youth‑centred sexual and reproductive health education.
