From 16-19 July, Kadoma Ranch Hotel hosts a powerful Mid-Term Budget Review Workshop where the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, CAMFED,ECOZI, Teach for Zimbabwe,FACET and parliamentary portfolio committees are joining forces to strengthen accountability, transparency, and sustainable financing for education. Over four days, participants are reviewing the Budget Strategy Paper and 2026 budget performance, identifying gaps in allocations and disbursements, and highlighting urgent needs like infrastructure, teacher support, learning materials, and equitable digital access for rural learners.

The conversations focus on practical,evidence-based recommendations, including progress on the National Education Trust Fund Bill to improve parliamentary oversight and ensure budgets translate into real classroom impact.

Our goal is simple: make every dollar count so every learner benefits.

Today, FACET joined ECOZI'S stakeholder meeting in Harare on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Responsivenes Audit - a powerful step toward building a more inclusive and gender responsive education in Zimbabwe.

The discussions at the meeting spotlighted both progress and the urgent gaps that still need action from support for pregnant learners and learners with disabilities, menstrual health, and stronger accountability.

FACET remains committed to working with partners to turn these commitments into real change for learners.

Every year on 16 June, FACET joins the rest of the continent in commemorating the International Day of the African Child. This day honours the memory of the students who were killed in Soweto, South Africa, for standing up against educational injustice and inequality under apartheid.

This day serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing challenges, rights, and realities facing African children today, particularly the urgent need for inclusive, equitable, and quality education in rural and farming communities.

Through our GEAR Alliance, we remain steadfast in advancing and advocating for increased, equitable, and transparent financing for quality education across Africa, ensuring that no child is left behind.

FACET is thrilled to be part of the movement for menstrual equity! We recently donated sanitary pads to girls at Hurungwe Primary School in Mrewa, helping them manage their periods safely and stay in school.

This year's theme, "Menstrual Equity for All" reminds us that menstrual products are a right, not a privilege. Many girls still lack access affecting their education and dignity.

Strengthening Collaborative Action for CSE & SRH in Mazowe Rural District!
We have successfully hosted a dynamic collaboration, learning, movement‑building, and networking preparatory meeting with 19 non‑traditional Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) and Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) allies in Mazowe Rural District. This landmark gathering brought together influential voices from diverse sectors that do not traditionally engage in SRH work, creating a powerful platform for shared vision, dialogue, and collective commitment.
🎯 Key Objectives
1️⃣ Increase engagement among cross‑sector stakeholders and movements to strengthen support for CSE and SRH in Mazowe Rural District.
2️⃣ Secure support commitments from 19 non‑traditional CSE/SRH stakeholders to champion young people’s health and rights within their communities.
👥 Who Was in the Room?
The meeting brought together a rich mix of community influencers including:

-Religious leaders from various churches
-Village heads
-Male sports organizers and players
-Village head workers
-Ward councillors
-Youth representatives

By engaging leaders who hold community trust and influence, we are expanding the movement for CSE and SRH, ensuring young people have access to safe, informed, and supportive environments.
Together, we are strengthening partnerships, amplifying community voices, and building momentum for inclusive, locally‑owned SRH initiatives.

Yesterday, the much‑anticipated Health Service and Sports Gala was held at Glengrey Primary School in Mazowe, bringing excitement and unity to the community.

This annual gala, organized as part of our Unity Day celebrations, serves as a platform to bring together members of our farming communities in a spirit of togetherness and empowerment.

This year’s event featured two disciplines; football and netball; with community members enthusiastically participating. Beyond the competition, the games carried a deeper purpose: to raise awareness about the importance of education, not just for individual success, but as a collective investment in the community’s future.

Education remains the cornerstone of every child’s development. For the Mazowe community, it is seen as a powerful tool to combat pressing social challenges such as child marriages, poverty, and drug abuse. By nurturing education, the community continues to plant seeds of hope, resilience, and progress for generations to come.
