Terry, we are truly blessed to have friends who care for our home as deeply as you do! The fresh oranges were an absolute hit with everyone, and the sweet potatoes made for a thoroughly delicious and filling meal. Generous gifts of fresh produce like this bring so much joy to our kitchen and put big smiles on the faces of our family. Thank you for your ongoing warmth, thoughtfulness, and kindness.

A big thank you to Oli for your wonderful contribution, which has enabled us to get official school tracksuits for all our children! Having matching, warm tracksuits makes a huge difference as our children head off to school, keeping them warm during the chilly mornings and giving them a proud sense of belonging. We are so grateful for your kindness and support in helping our children feel confident, comfortable, and ready to learn.

We would like to send a massive thank you to our wonderful neighbours at The Farmhouse Matopos for regularly inviting our children to join their afternoon wildlife feeding sessions. These special outings give our children a fantastic opportunity to get close to the incredible wildlife of the Matobo area. It is a brilliant, hands-on way for them to learn about conservation, environmental responsibility, and the importance of caring for the natural world. The excitement of helping feed the animals and learning about the bush creates beautiful memories that will last a lifetime.

Our goat project is going from strength to strength. The newest four-legged members of our family have settled in beautifully and are thoroughly enjoying their daily walks amongst the Matobo hills. They are healthy, growing well, and fast becoming a vital part of our journey towards long-term sustainability here at the home. There is nothing quite like watching them navigate the granite rocks with such ease, bringing plenty of character and energy to our beautiful surroundings.

Over the past 18 months, we have achieved a wonderful milestone by providing a bicycle for every single one of our secondary school children. This achievement has been made possible largely through the success of our homegrown chicken project, proving that a little daily hard work and dedication can open up fantastic opportunities for our young people. We also want to send a special thank you to the kind university students from Minnesota. Your generous support helped us get this project over the finish line, making a real difference to our children as they travel to and from their classes.

A massive thank you to Fence Africa for the wonderful support they have given Ethandweni Children’s Home over the years. Keeping our home in the Matobo District safe and secure is incredibly important to us. The team at Fence Africa has done an amazing job of putting up our main boundary fences and building sturdy pens for our goats and chickens. They are always professional, friendly, and their prices are always fair. Plus, whenever we need a quick repair or a bit of maintenance help, they are always right there to assist us. We are so grateful for your ongoing support and for helping us keep our home safe and running smoothly.

Today we would like to recognise someone very special within our community. Zodwa has faithfully served Ethandweni Children’s Home for the past eight years and has become an invaluable part of our family. She is the quiet engine of our daily operations, keeping the office running smoothly, managing our endless paperwork and petty cash. Beyond the desk, Zodwa also oversees our busy chicken projects and is always ready to lend a helping hand to our children in countless ways. The dedication does not stop there, as her husband also generously assists us with vital maintenance work around the home whenever needed. Together, they make an incredible team, and we are truly grateful for their dedication, loyalty, and hard work at the home. Thank you, Zodwa, for everything you do to keep our home organised, sustainable, and full of care.

A truly exciting milestone was celebrated at Ethandweni Children’s Home tonight as we sat down to enjoy our very first meal harvested directly from our fish farming project. Watching this long-held dream transition from a plan on paper into a fresh, healthy meal on our dinner plates has been incredibly rewarding.
