My Age Africa recently hosted the inception meeting for the SRHRJ CORE Project, bringing together feminist-oriented Community-Led Organizations to build a stronger, more coordinated movement for Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights and Justice (SRHRJ) in Zimbabwe.

The meeting provided a platform for collective reflection, partnership building, and the development of shared advocacy priorities aimed at advancing the rights of women, girls, and marginalized communities. Together, we are strengthening solidarity, enhancing advocacy capacities, and creating pathways for greater accountability and policy influence.

As civic spaces continue to shrink and anti-rights movements grow, collective action has never been more important. Through collaboration, evidence-based advocacy, and movement building, we remain committed to safeguarding and advancing SRHRJ for all.

Last week, My Age Africa convened CSOs, young people, and government stakeholders including the Ministry of Health through the Investment Case on Mental Health Project.

The engagement focused on strengthening budget literacy and exploring how different partners can support advocacy efforts for local authorities particularly Masvingo City Council to prioritise mental health and allocate a dedicated budget line for mental health services in Masvingo.

Mental health remains a critical issue affecting young people in Zimbabwe. Statistics show that 1 in 4 youths in Zimbabwe suffer from mental health challen, meaning 25% of young people are affected.

In Masvingo District, there are only 2 mental health nurses serving the community, despite the growing burden of mental health conditions. The leading causes of mental health challenges among young people include drug and substance abuse and depression.

Currently, Masvingo City Council has no dedicated budget line for mental health. This highlights the urgent need for increased investment, stronger policies, and collective action to ensure accessible mental health services for all.

Together, we can advocate for a future where mental health is prioritised, funded, and accessible.

Girls are born into unfair terms they never agreed to. A sprawling list of unfair Terms and Conditions that reach into all areas of their lives.

Theyโ€™re written into policies, cultures and systems. But these terms arenโ€™t binding. Theyโ€™re breakable.

Girls are done with the old terms. And so are we.

The time for change is now: https://bit.ly/3Pt3JsC
