On Wednesday, 29 July 2026, all roads led to Mabvuku for the Rotary Club of Highlands' first signature community project of the 2026–2027 Rotary year.

In partnership with Specsavers Opticians Zimbabwe and Mabvuku Polyclinic, we hosted a Community Eye Wellness Awareness Event, bringing essential eye care services closer to the community.

Thanks to the generous donation of RestoringVision, we distributed 276 pairs of free reading glasses to community members whose vision could be improved immediately. Individuals requiring further assessment and treatment were referred to Specsavers Opticians and the appropriate hospitals for continued eye care.

This initiative forms part of District Governor Sam's flagship Community Impact Initiative to distribute 10,000 reading glasses across communities under the "Together We Give" programme, restoring sight, improving quality of life, and ensuring more people have access to essential eye care services.

This impactful project reflects Rotary's commitment to improving lives through service and creating lasting change in our communities.

Together, we are helping people see better and live better.

Today, President Rachel was on the ground ahead of our Eye Wellness Awareness Event taking place this Wednesday 29 July 2026, at Mabvuku Polyclinic.

Together with Sr Mashaya, she finalised preparations to ensure a successful community outreach. She met up with the Rotary Community Corps (RCC) members and handed over flyers for distribution throughout Mabvuku and surrounding communities.

We're looking forward to welcoming everyone for a day dedicated to promoting eye health, early detection, and community wellness.
