The trust was founded by Dr Ezekiel Guti, who used to meet the destitute, needy and poor people whenever he went for missionary assignments. He was touched by the plight of the needy and would then respond to these using his own resources. Many families were assisted with food, clothing, blankets and money for fees. He also provided spiritual counseling and support to those who were affected. As a result of the overwhelming demand, it was then decided that the Dr Ezekiel Guti Development Trust (EGUDE) be set up to address the problems in whole. The organization’s major focus is on providing an economic livelihood and enable orphans who include child headed families and other vulnerable children to have an opportunity to go to school. The Organization pays school fees, purchase school uniforms and stationery, educate orphans about their rights ,HIV/AIDS ,provide psychosocial support and introduce small scale projects such as poultry production and vegetable production for child headed families and guardians of the orphans. Preference is also given to the girl child in order to bridge a gap between boys and girls. EGUDE emphasizes on a holistic approach to development which encompasses the spiritual, mental, physical and psychological needs of a person. The trust is headed by an 8 member board of trustees, drawn from experts in the business, legal, finance and NGO sectors. The board provides overall policy direction and decision making.
