Organization for Public Health Interventions and Development -OPHID OPHID has since grown to be one of the main local stakeholders in the field of HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment.
(1)

OPHID is a Zimbabwean organization that develops and implements innovative approaches and strategies to strengthen the provision of quality HIV prevention, care and treatment services. Previously known as the Institute of Public Health, Epidemiology and Development (ISPED) of the University of Bordeaux in France, OPHID has been a technical partner supporting the Ministry of Health and Child Care i

n the implementation of the National Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV Program in Zimbabwe since 2001. In 2012, OPHID grew from being a sub-recipient to become a Consortium lead and grant holder for a PEPFAR and USAID funded 5 year Families and Communities for the Elimination of Paediatric HIV (FACE HIV) program. With support from our funding partners, OPHID is a trusted partner of the Ministry of Health and Child Care at national, provincial, district and community levels. We aim for our programs to be cost-effective, taking advantage of project leverage and integration, joining together expertise in the fields of HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment; Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health; Sexual and Reproductive Health; Early Childhood Development and Women’s Empowerment.

💚This , we remind ourselves that public health doesn’t begin in a clinic, it begins with the air we breathe, the water we drink and the environments we cultivate. Let’s work together to create sustainable environments that allow everyone, everywhere, to thrive.

The Ministry of Health and Child Care Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) Department, OPHID, local stakeholders and global partners today kicked off a vital 3-day review meeting in Bulawayo, to finalize the draft National NCD Strategy 2026–2030. This costed, evidence-based framework is crucial for strengthening our national response to NCDs, from prevention to treatment.

The meeting will be anchored on these key focus areas:
1) Reviewing & Refining: Mapping current NCD interventions, gaps and strategic goals.
2) Financing & Sustainability: Structuring domestic and external funding models.
3) Implementation: Harmonizing provincial and national responsibilities for maximum impact.
4) Finalizing: Preparing the roadmap for formal validation and Ministerial endorsement.

Brought together with the support from Sanofi we are committed to building a healthier, more resilient Zimbabwe!

As we wrap up this introduction to the “Plus" in Youth Boost+, we are looking towards an exciting future. We are interested in more than just creating demand through the Boost application; we are creating opportunities for young people to take full control of their health.

A critical part of this evolution is our Referral Closure System. While the Boost application is a powerful tool for health education and screening, the "Plus" ensures that young people’s needs are being met. By tracking and closing the loop on every referral, we move beyond simple outreach to guaranteed service delivery, ensuring no young person is left behind after the initial screening.

In our first phase, we achieved an outstanding reach of over 240,000 young people! The journey to adding 10,000 more is just the beginning of this next chapter. We remain committed to continuous learning and innovation to ensure every young person has the agency and the access they deserve.

Self-screening QR codes!

We are making health assessments easier than ever. We are rolling out QR-code self-screening in facility waiting rooms and at outreach activities! This allows young people to scan a code and privately begin their screening journey on their own mobile devices while waiting to see a provider.

Empowering youths to be active participants in their own health outcomes.
