LET THEM Trust

LET THEM Trust We conduct events, workshops and training for artistic and creative youth in schools. OBJECTIVES:

1.

LET THEM Trust is a child-oriented creative, educational and cultural initiative that aims to create a platform for young people to groom and showcase their artistic talent. Founded in 2010, LET THEM Trust was originally geared to preserving traditional and cultural heritage through Ngano (traditional folktales) plays in schools, and has since evolved into a multifaceted cultural and arts promotio

n and preservation organization. Through the years, we have developed our programming to include other arterial elements in the youth’s daily lives. As a cultural and traditional rich nation, Zimbabweans are grounded in family values and norms, however the youth of today are now taking in more external traits and habits through various media. With this in mind, LET THEM Trust incorporates workshops and discussion platforms in its programming; giving participants a voice, lending an ear and providing a thought to how they can circumvent issues that affect them. These workshops cover issues such as HIV/AIDS, Child Labour, S*x (and s*x for exchange), Teenage Pregnancies, Loneliness, Children’s Rights, Peer Pressure, Physical and Mental Abuse, Substance Abuse, Zimbabwean Culture & Heritage and so much more. VISION:
Develop sustainable artistic career pathways for the creative youth of Zimbabwe

MISSION:
To nurture artistic talent, preserve cultural identity, and help develop career pathways for the youth in various creative fields. Through Programming: Provide sustainable platforms for upcoming young artists to develop and showcase their artistic talent

2. Through Workshops: Train the youth in Arts Business Management to increase their understanding of the business elements that will affect them in their artistic industries

3. Through Mentorship, Cultural Exchange and Career Pathway programmes: Foster a transition of a select-number of participants from schools into professional-level opportunities

4. Work with promising students from marginalized communities in an effort to give them skills, training and opportunities in the arts.

5. Through Information Dissemination: Increase understanding, appreciation and acceptance in parents with artistic youth of the arts as a viable career choice – in-turn allowing for more participation of the youth in the arts

TUTORIAL TUESDAY 4: New Part of Africa Is Opening Faster Than Scientists Predicted

Africa is slowly splitting in two as the Nubian and Somali tectonic plates pull apart. This is forming the famous East African Rift, which runs over 6,000 kilometers from the Red Sea down to Mozambique. While most dramatic activity is in the north, geologists have discovered a massive, active, 2,500-kilometer zone of weakness extending through the south

FUN FRIDAY 3: STREET ART
Street art is a visual art form created in public locations, usually on building walls, street furniture, or pavements. Evolving from 1970s graffiti, it utilizes various mediums—including stencils, murals, and installations—to bypass traditional art galleries and engage directly with the public, often serving as social or political commentary.

THURSDAY THRUWAY 3: HOW TO TELL IF EGGS ARE STILL GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT

Many people rely on the date printed on an egg carton to decide when to toss the dozen, but sell‑by and best‑by dates are quality guidelines — not safety deadlines. Most people in Zimbabwe buy their eggs from a vendor, tuck shop or musika, making it impossible to know how old the eggs are or if they are still good enough to eat. See video below for an easy way to work that out.

MONDAY MARVEL 3: AFRICAN AI - Ethiopian Self-Taught Developer Wins Global Amazon AI Competition With Offline Education App
An Ethiopian self-taught software developer has won a major international Amazon technology competition with an artificial intelligence platform designed to operate entirely offline — addressing one of Africa’s most persistent infrastructure challenges.

Natnael Getenew Zeleke, 24, emerged as the global winner of the AWS AIdeas competition after competing against more than 10,000 participants from 115 countries. His winning innovation, called Ivy, is an AI-powered educational platform built specifically for students who lack reliable internet access.

By the age of 17, while still in secondary school, he had already built an AI-powered educational platform called Smart Quiz, which could answer students’ academic questions. Natnael said the experience taught him that major technological innovation does not always require Silicon Valley-scale resources — consistent experimentation and solving real-world problems matter more than expensive infrastructure.
