For the past 3 years, our founder, Debbie Wetzlar, has joined Jacana Yacht Club’s week-long sailing school, where she runs a water safety clinic for one morning as a part of the Water Safety Trust of Zimbabwe.

This year, Con-cert joined us, with Webster Jaricha covering CPR and basic first aid required around water. Classes are from age 8, right up to adult classes, for those interested in sailing.

It was then explained how all forms of water are dangerous in their own way i.e. buckets without lids, the importance of wearing a life jacket on a boat, and pool rules and safety.

Finally, we educated everyone on NON-CONTACT RESCUE. Self-preservation is essential to ensuring a safer rescue. Always call for help first and then look for ways to help save someone without entering the water. ‘REACH. THROW. DON’T GO.’ We only enter the water if someone is very fatigued or unconscious.

Education is the most important aspect of water safety, and we look forward to teaching more people about understanding and respecting the hidden dangers of water.

They came for the holidays… but left as something more. 💧

In laughter, in movement, in moments of quiet courage - something powerful began to unfold.

Over the holidays, "Zimbabwean Ninjas” became a space where children found confidence… where fear slowly turned into bravery… and where the water, once uncertain, became something they could begin to understand.

Each splash carried a lesson.
Each smile, a small victory.
Each child, a story of growth.

Because the truth is - water does not announce danger.
And too many young lives are lost not from lack of ability… but from lack of opportunity to learn.

This short documentary is a glimpse into what can happen when we create those opportunities - when we choose to teach, to guide, and to equip.

Not for applause.
Not for attention.
But for life.

Because every child deserves the chance to come home safe.
