We reflect on the aspirations and dreams of Adolescent Girls from our looking at the joy and confidence they get from excelling in their education. ⚽ *G&G Boot Camp Spotlight: ROOTS Africa Session*⚽

At the Cleats, Confidence & Conversations Tournament, football wasn’t the only game-changer. Our partners ROOTS , a women-led NGO working to end child marriages and empower girls across Mashonaland Central ,brought the power of knowledge and sisterhood through their session:

✨ My Body, My Power: Knowing, Protecting, and Taking Care of Myself ✨

Using the Nhanga methodology ROOTS created a circle of trust where adolescent girls could share, learn, and grow together.

From storytelling about Rudo’s journey navigating peer pressure, to role plays on consent and healthy choices, to fun, interactive games like the “Signs Game” & SRH quizzes, the yard was alive with learning, laughter, and empowerment.

The session helped girls:
🔹 Understand basic sexual and reproductive health concepts
🔹 Build knowledge on STI and pregnancy prevention
🔹 Strengthen confidence to say NO to
🔹 Discover where to access SRH services in their own communities

Through peer discussions, and an anonymous Q&A, the girls left not only more informed, but more confident in their power to protect and care for themselves.

ROOTS l reminded us that protecting the girl child isn’t only about laws and policies, it’s also about giving girls the tools, the language, and the safe spaces they need to thrive.

A huge thank you to ROOTS for anchoring such a transformational session at the boot camp. 💜
