What an enriching and empowering experience for our young women. As YWCA Matabeleland Region, we were honoured to collaborate with UN Women Zimbabwe for the Nhanga Dialogue courtesy of VaNyaradzayi Gumbodzvanda (UN Assistant Secretary-General) and UN Women.
This saw a total of 39 young women taking part, demonstrating inspiring levels of confidence, assertiveness, critical reflection, and visioning for their futures. Unpacking the contemporary issues affecting them as young women and articulating how they wish to see them addressed โ including emerging insights on SRHR, education, health, technology employment opportunities, advocacy, and their holistic well-being.
As a young women oriented organization these peer to peer and young women dialogues are critical to moulding a generation that is informed and fully equipped with skills to navigate this 21st century world. This platform created safe spaces where young women could interrogate their realities, affirm each otherโs journeys, challenge harmful norms, and strengthen their leadership confidence. Beyond the dialogue itself, these platforms nurture peer learning, solidarity, empathy, and collective problem-solving.
This platform was vital in cultivating agency and building a generation of young women who are informed, resilient, and equipped to influence decisions that affect their lives and communities.
We deeply appreciate this learning platform for creating space for voice, agency, and leadership, and for reminding the world of the power of safe intergenerational dialogue in shaping futures aligned with young womenโs aspirations.
Thank you UN Women Zimbabwe for the continued partnership and for fostering environments where young women can thrive, learn, and lead.
