Empowered Women, Safer Communities!

In Hurungwe and Chiwundura RDCs, 16 women-led solar-powered nutrition gardens are changing lives. These gardens have directly empowered 1,524 women, providing sustainable income, water, food, nutrition security, and the strength to stand against any form of violence. The gardens established are more than gardens, they are safe spaces where women come together to discuss challenges, share solutions, and confront issues affecting their lives.

When women have economic independence and supportive spaces, they are less vulnerable to abuse and violence. Empowerment is not just about livelihoods, it’s about dignity, resilience, and economic freedom.

Together, we are proving that economic empowerment is a pathway to ending violence against women and girls. Economically empowered women build strong communities.

World Environment Day 2025 ✨

Theme: “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”

Today, we celebrate the power of nature and our collective responsibility to protect it for generations to come.

At 4-H Zimbabwe, we are taking action through tree planting and forest preservation initiatives, promoting climate smart agriculture that protects our soils and water resources, and supporting the use of renewable energy solutions such as solar-powered systems in the 16 nutrition gardens that we have established in Chiwundura and Hurungwe Districts.

We believe that climate action starts at the local level. By empowering young people, farmers, and communities with sustainable practices, we are helping build resilient livelihoods while safeguarding the environment.

At 4-H Zimbabwe Foundation, we are promoting nutrition-based farming through women-led gardens and farmer field schools across the wards in which we operate.

By encouraging the adoption of biofortified seed varieties and nutritious, drought-resistant small grains, we are helping communities strengthen food security, improve dietary diversity, and enhance household nutrition.

Through practical demonstrations and knowledge-sharing opportunities, we are empowering families to grow healthier crops, build resilience, and lead healthier lives.

4-H Zimbabwe Foundation welcomes the proposed Environment Management Bill (2026) as a significant step towards strengthening environmental governance, climate resilience, and sustainable natural resource management in Zimbabwe.

Through our ongoing interventions in Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) and natural resources governance, we continue to empower farmers and communities with sustainable environmental practices that promote environmental protection, conservation, and resilient livelihoods for future generations.

Youth inclusion in peacebuilding and national development is important 👌

Their exclusion not only undermines national cohesion, but also creates fertile ground for insurgencies and separatist struggles, making inclusive governance and equitable development essential for sustainable peace.

What youth said 💫

The inaugural launch of the Masvingo Youth Council for Peace and Development is a powerful reminder of how young people can lead the way in shaping inclusive dialogue. It shows that despite differences, there’s a shared commitment to peace and development for a better Zimbabwe.
