Together with our partners and stakeholders, we were honored to host representatives from Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) during their recent visit to the Mabvuku Waste Transfer Station. The visit highlighted the positive impact the project continues to make in promoting sustainable waste management, community empowerment, cleaner environments, and improved livelihoods.
Through collaboration, innovation, and community participation, the project is creating real change and strengthening efforts towards a greener and healthier future for Mabvuku and beyond. We remain committed to building sustainable solutions that leave no one behind. ♻️🌍

On 6 March 2026, Soberlife International took part in a community clean-up campaign aimed at promoting a cleaner and healthier environment. Volunteers worked together to remove litter and improve the surroundings, demonstrating the power of community action.

The campaign had a positive impact as it helped create a cleaner space for residents, encouraged responsible waste management, and strengthened community participation. It also reinforced the message that caring for our environment goes hand in hand with promoting healthy, substance-free lifestyles. 🌱♻️

 Real change starts with people.

At the Epworth site, progress is not only visible in the construction and installation of waste management infrastructure — it is being built through people, participation, and purpose.

Site personnel have now been inducted on pre-training evaluation tools for community waste management groups and waste pickers. This step ensures that training is relevant, responsive, and rooted in lived realities.

Our approach places frontline workers — especially waste pickers — at the centre of community involvement. These are the hands that keep communities clean, often unseen, yet essential.

 Our target impact:
• 400 youth and women reached
• 10 community recycling groups strengthened

By intentionally engaging youth, women, and informal waste workers, we are laying foundations for inclusive, dignified, and sustainable waste systems.

This is what impact looks like when infrastructure meets community ownership.
