We have unveiled a lineup of exciting activities for the youth and kids zones because savouring traditional flavours starts with our young people! Bring the kids and youth to the National Good Seed & Food Festival for fun, learning, games, creativity and exciting ways to connect with seeds, food, nature and culture. From the Kids Zone to the Youth Zone, there’s something for every young explorer, dreamer and changemaker! Citizen's Initiative Zimbabwe (CIZW) is a registered Trust founded in 2020 during COVID.

What began as emergency drinking water supply to communities in Epworth, Mbare, Kuwadzana Extension and Chikurubi Maximum Prison during the ZPCS water and power crisis, has grown into sustainable urban farming, turning illegal dumpsites into organic community gardens.

Since 2021, our Kensington Urban Horticulture Garden funds our work through organic produce sales. We are now partnering with the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service (ZPCS) to solarize the Psychiatric Section at Chikurubi Maximum Prison, securing reliable power for lighting, medical storage and water.

We thought of giving you a look at the team handling our cooking demos during the Festival.

The cooking demos will be held on both days with the following timelines:

Friday
Sese 12.10pm -12.30 pm
Aunty Flo 12.45pm -1.10pm
Netsai Chimusasa 1.50-2.10pm

Saturday
Craig 10.00-10.20am
Bridget 10.30-10.50 am
Tinashe 12.55-1.15pm

Cook Off with DeAnkarra and Outdoor Kitchen
1.55pm - 2.25pm

Each demonstration slot is 20minutes. 15 minutes is for the actual live demonstration, 5 minutes for the question and answer.

At this year’s Good Seed & Food Festival, we’re launching something new and very exciting: $1 Tasters!
The idea is simple: try more, discover more, spend less!
We want to make it affordable for you to sample lots of different foods and drinks, while also making it worthwhile for our stallholders to offer you those tasters. The $1 Tasters are small, attractive tasting portions, specially prepared to showcase the products available at participating stalls. We’re hoping this will turn the festival into one big tasting adventure, where you can try something new without spending a fortune, and discover foods and flavours you might otherwise have walked straight past.

You’ll be able to buy $1 Taster Tickets at several points around the festival and exchange them for tasters at any participating stall.
Taster stalls will be easily identifiable. Look out for the signs and LOTS of balloons! 🎈

Our Mascot King KK, continues his quest to find out how much people know about our indigenous foods. If you want to know more about our healthy, nutritious, natural, and organic food, please come through on the 18th and 19th of September at the Harare Botanical Gardens for a thrilling experience.
