Empowering Communities Through Skills Development

At Ongaeshi, we believe that sustainable development begins with equipping people with practical skills that can create opportunities and improve livelihoods.

I am currently learning advanced embroidery and sewing techniques using state-of-the-art embroidery and sewing machines. These machines can create beautiful lettering, words, patterns, and decorative designs, while also allowing custom designs to be uploaded directly into the machine’s computer system. The possibilities for creativity and entrepreneurship are truly exciting.

Although I am still perfecting my skills, I am making steady progress and look forward to mastering these techniques. My goal is to share this knowledge with women and girls in the communities where Ongaeshi operates, helping them develop income-generating skills that can contribute to long-term self-reliance and economic empowerment.

Skills training is an important part of our commitment to sustainability. By investing in people, we are helping to create opportunities that can continue to benefit individuals, families, and communities for years to come.

Here are a few examples of my work so far as I continue learning and improving. Every stitch is a step towards empowering others.

Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 🌸

For many girls and women in rural communities, managing a period is not simply a matter of choice it is a matter of access.

While menstruation is a natural part of life, the lack of affordable sanitary products, clean water, safe sanitation facilities and accurate information continues to create barriers to education, health, dignity and opportunity.

At Ongaeshi, we believe that no girl should miss school, feel ashamed or be held back because of her period. Menstrual health is not a luxury it is a matter of dignity, equality and opportunity.

This Menstrual Hygiene Day, we stand with girls and women in underserved communities and renew our commitment to breaking barriers, promoting menstrual health education and advocating for access to essential menstrual hygiene products.

End stigma. Period.

For seven years, Ongaeshi has stood as more than an organisation, we have been a lifeline, a voice of hope, and a bridge to opportunity. From saving lives and promoting education to empowering communities and restoring dignity, every step of this journey has been driven by purpose and compassion.

What began as a vision has grown into impact that can be seen in the lives of the people and communities we serve. We celebrate every volunteer, partner, supporter, and community member who has walked this journey with us.

Seven years later, the mission remains the same: to serve, to uplift, and to create lasting change.

The work continues. The impact grows. The purpose lives on.

As we open the doors to Term 2 of 2026, we do so with renewed hope, courage and purpose. A new school term is more than just a return to classrooms it is another opportunity to dream again, to learn again, and to rise again.

At Ongaeshi, we believe every child carries potential that deserves to be nurtured, protected, and celebrated. Behind every school uniform is a future doctor, teacher, farmer, engineer, artist, leader or change maker waiting for a chance to shine.

To all learners stepping into this new term:
May you walk into your classrooms with confidence.
May you find strength in difficult subjects, courage in uncertain moments, and joy in every small achievement.
Remember that your story matters, your dreams are valid and your education is powerful.

To parents, guardians, teachers, and communities thank you for continuing to stand beside our children, especially in challenging times. Your sacrifices, encouragement and love are shaping a generation that will transform our communities for the better.

This term, let us choose kindness, resilience, discipline and hope. Let us continue building safe spaces where children can learn, grow, and believe in themselves.

At Ongaeshi, we remain committed to supporting education, dignity, and opportunity for every child because when we invest in children, we invest in the future of our communities.

Here’s to a productive, peaceful and impactful Term 2.
May it be filled with growth, breakthroughs and endless possibilities.

Education Uninterrupted

In many rural communities, staying in school is not just about ambition it’s about what is possible.

At Ongaeshi, we focus on making it possible.

Through practical support with school related costs, access to essential learning materials, and community driven solutions that strengthen household stability, we help remove the barriers that quietly push children out of classrooms. At the same time, we invest in approaches that last building resilience within families and working alongside communities so that education continues, consistently.

This is not temporary relief. It is a commitment to continuity.

Because when education is uninterrupted, potential has the space to grow and futures remain within reach.

Today, as Zimbabwe marks 46 years- Independence Day, we pause to reflect on the meaning of freedom, resilience and hope.

At Ongaeshi, our work in rural communities is rooted in the belief that true independence is not only about history, but about the present and the future we build together. It is about dignity restored, communities empowered and opportunities created where they are needed most.

For many of us, this day carries both pride and pain. Pride in where we come from and pain in the realities that have pushed so many to seek survival far from home. Yet even in that tension, our commitment remains unshaken to give back, to uplift and to be part of the change our communities deserve.

We honor the strength of every rural family, every young person holding onto hope and every community that continues to rise despite the odds.

Happy Independence Day, Zimbabwe. May we continue to work towards a future where every citizen can thrive at home, with dignity and opportunity.

Called to Transform Home

We are not just dreamers we are doers, called to transform the very places we come from.

At Ongaeshi, our purpose is rooted in a deep commitment to give back, to uplift, and to restore dignity where it is needed most. We believe that real change begins at home in our communities, in our villages, in the lives of our people.

This is more than a mission. It is a calling. A calling to serve with compassion, to lead with integrity, and to build a future where hope is not a luxury, but a reality for all.

We are committed to changing our home for the better one life, one family, one community at a time.

Together we rise. Together we rebuild. Together we become the change.
