We are therefore honored to be part of the inaugural Convention on the Future of Community
Based Natural Resources Management in Zimbabwe organized by the Zimbabwe Environmental Law Organisation (ZELO),
the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife

GCA is excited to have been part of the landmark effort, National Human-Wildlife Coexistence Strategy workshop, being spearheaded by the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife through Zimparks.

The threat to livelihoods and biodiversity due to Human-Wildlife Conflict is real and requires a concerted mitigation effort towards realising sustained co-existence between humans and wildlife.

The President of the Republic of Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has assented to the Parks and Wildlife Amendment Act No. 4 of 2025. This Act modernises Zimbabwe's wildlife legal framework to promote sustainable economic growth, community empowerment, and enhanced conservation.

Key reforms include:

· Decentralises wildlife management
· Establishes HWC relief fund
· Clarifies wildlife ownership
· Formalises sustainable quotas
· Empowers Authority law enforcement
· Introduces mining consultation in PAs
· Creates wildlife corridors/buffer zones
· Aligns with international commitments
