🌍 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence

As we commemorate the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we reaffirm our commitment to building Safe and Inclusive Cities —online and offline.
Gender-Based Violence has evolved in form, reaching our digital spaces through harassment, cyber-bullying, non-consensual sharing of content, and harmful narratives that silence voices.
We believe everyone—especially women, girls, and marginalized communities—deserve to participate online without fear, shame, or violence.

Through the Safe & Inclusive Cities 2.0 project, Mbilez24 and Youth Ensemble stand in solidarity with survivors and pledges to:

💜 Promote safer digital spaces for all
💜 Amplify voices calling for accountability and respect
💜 Equip communities with knowledge to prevent and respond to online GBV
💜 Challenge harmful norms that fuel digital violence
💜 Support survivors with empathy, confidentiality, and action

This year, we echo the message:

“Our Clicks, Our Safety — End Online GBV.”

We encourage all young people, women, men, parents, leaders, and digital citizens to stand with us.
Let’s learn. Let’s speak out. Let’s act.
Together, we can make every community—physical or digital—a safer place to belong.

🎨Voices of Colour: A Vibrant Transformation🖼

We are thrilled to share that young people supported by the Safe and Inclusive Cities Project have brought a splash of colour to the Innovation and Incubation Hub! 🎨✨

Through their creativity and artistic talents, these incredible youths have transformed the space into a powerful statement against Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Each brushstroke represents their commitment to safeguarding our environment through sustainable practices, green jobs, and innovative climate change initiatives.

This beautiful art not only defines a safe space for youth but also opens doors for everyone to access vital Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services and information at the hub.

Unlike traditional classroom sessions, this initiative allows our young people to express their visions for the world and their community in a vibrant, tangible way. Their creative freedom empowers them to articulate their thoughts on pressing issues, fostering a deeper connection with their peers and inspiring collective action.

With the theme "Voices of Colour," our young artists have shared powerful messages addressing:
- The ongoing fight against GBV
- The elevation of girls' rights
- Challenging harmful societal norms
- Climate change awareness
- Youth economic empowerment

Join us in celebrating their creativity and courage as they inspire change and foster a safer, more inclusive community for all. 💪❤️.

Our doors are open, DO VISIT THE HUB.

Empowering Youth Voices in Harare: A Step Towards Economic Empowerment

Recently, the The City of Harare Boardroom hosted a significant budget consultative meeting that united youth representatives from the Junior Parliament alongside young entrepreneurs from Harare South District supported by the Safe and Inclusive Cities project as well youth representatives from Harare Metropolitan Province. This gathering marked a vital moment for youth engagement in shaping the future of our province.

The Importance of Youth Participation

1. Representation of Diverse Voices:
The inclusion of young entrepreneurs ensured that a broad spectrum of perspectives was represented. This diversity is crucial for creating policies that genuinely reflect the aspirations of our youth.

2. Economic Empowerment:
Youth entrepreneurs are key players in our local economy. By voicing their needs in budget discussions, they advocated for resources and initiatives that support their growth, such as funding and training programs. This not only helps them thrive but also contributes to job creation and economic stability.

3. Influence on City Planning
The insights shared by young entrepreneurs were instrumental in aligning the city’s budget with the sectors that matter most to us—technology, agriculture, and creative industries. This alignment fosters an environment where youth can flourish.

4. Promoting Overall Well-Being
Economic empowerment leads to improved mental health and social cohesion. By addressing issues like access to education and health services in budget discussions, we enhance the holistic development of our youth.

5. Building Leadership Skills
Participation in these meetings equips youth with essential skills in advocacy and negotiation, preparing them to become the leaders of tomorrow.

The engagement of youth entrepreneurs in the budget consultative meeting is a significant stride toward creating an inclusive governance framework. By prioritizing our voices, we can build a sustainable economy that empowers the next generation. Together, we are not just shaping our future—we are creating a vibrant community for all young people in Harare.

Chapter 2🔥🔥: The Prosperity Circle, A circle of Winners 🏆

The Prosperity Circle, a stokvel group trained by Youth Ensemble under the Safe and Inclusive Cities project, has successfully completed another share-out. Initially, the group pooled their resources to purchase blankets and in this chapter they have moved to purchasing, plates, cups, bowls, and kitchen cutlery. This achievement is a testament to the power of collective saving and working towards a common goal.

These dynamic young women and men exemplify how collective action can lead to meaningful outcomes. Their commitment to supporting one another not only strengthens their individual capacities but also fosters a sense of community and shared purpose.

Stokvels like the Prosperity Circle serve as vital financial stepping stones, particularly for teen mothers and young men. By participating in these savings groups, they gain access to resources that can help them secure their families' needs and invest in their futures. The experience of saving together promotes financial literacy, encourages responsible spending, and builds a foundation for entrepreneurship among its members.

Moreover, such initiatives contribute to the greater good by empowering participants to break the cycle of poverty. As group members gain access to financial resources, they can start small businesses, pursue education, and ultimately improve their quality of life. The ripple effect of their success extends to their families and communities, fostering a culture of collaboration, resilience, and support.

The Prosperity Circle stands as a powerful example of how collective efforts can create impactful change, demonstrating that when individuals unite for a common purpose, they can achieve remarkable results.

Stay tuned for the next Chapter🔥🔥🔥🔥
