🎯 National Patrol Leaders Course – Day 6 (Closing Day) 🎯

The curtain has officially come down on the National Patrol Leaders Course at Gordon Park Scout Camp, Matobo. ⚜️

Day 6 marked the closing of camp, bringing to an end an intensive, practical, and transformative leadership journey for our Patrol Leaders.

Over the past days, participants have grown in:
• Leadership and responsibility
• Teamwork and patrol spirit
• Outdoor and survival skills
• Confidence and discipline

The closing ceremony celebrated the effort, resilience, and commitment shown by all 16 Patrol Leaders throughout the course.

As they return to their respective troops, they carry with them not just skills, but the responsibility to lead, inspire, and strengthen the Patrol System on the ground.

The course may have ended — but the leadership journey continues. 💪🔥

🔥 National Patrol Leaders Course – Day 5 Highlights 🔥

Day 5 at the National Patrol Leaders Course at Gordon Park Scout Camp, Matobo delivered adventure, resilience, and a strong finish to the field programme! ⚜️

With improved weather conditions, Patrol Leaders took on the outdoors with determination and energy.

Key activities included:
• Hike and climb of Shumbashava Mountain – testing endurance, teamwork, and determination 🏔️
• Hike to White Rhino Caves – exploration, appreciation of nature, and practical navigation
• Dismantling of camp & campsite cleaning – reinforcing discipline, responsibility, and leaving no trace

The day combined adventure with responsibility, ensuring that Patrol Leaders not only explore but also respect and preserve their environment.

A powerful close to an intense and rewarding course experience! 💪🔥

🔥 National Patrol Leaders Course – Day 4 Highlights 🔥

Day 4 at the National Patrol Leaders Course at Gordon Park Scout Camp, Matobo maintained strong momentum despite changing weather conditions! 🌧️⚜️

The Patrol Leaders engaged in critical survival and navigation skills, strengthening their readiness for real-life Scouting situations.

Key activities included:
• First Aid – essential life-saving skills and emergency response
• Mapwork – developing navigation and orientation competence
• Backwoods Skills – understanding self-reliance and living in harmony with nature
• Firemaking – mastering safe and effective fire lighting techniques

⚠️ The planned hike was unfortunately cancelled due to rains, as the mountain terrain became slippery and unsafe. Safety remains a top priority in all programme decisions.

Despite the weather setback, the Patrol Leaders remained resilient, adaptable, and fully engaged throughout the day. 💪🔥

Day 3 at the National Patrol Leaders Course at Gordon Park Scout Camp, Matobo pushed our Patrol Leaders into high-intensity, skill-based training! ⚜️

The focus was on practical Scouting competencies essential for outdoor leadership and confidence in the field.

Key activities included:
• Knotting Skills – mastering essential knots for real-life application
• Pioneering – building structures through teamwork, precision, and creativity
• Estimation – developing accuracy in judging distance, height, and measurement without tools
• Axemanship – safe handling and effective use of tools in camp
• Obstacle Course – testing endurance, agility, and teamwork under pressure

The day challenged both mind and body, reinforcing discipline, safety, and cooperation within patrols. The standard keeps rising as the course progresses! 💪🔥

Day 2 at the National Patrol Leaders Course at Gordon Park Scout Camp, Matobo was fully hands-on, practical, and packed with core Scouting skills! ⚜️

Our 16 Patrol Leaders continued building momentum through a dynamic programme focused on both leadership and outdoor competence.

Key activities included:
• Making your own woggle – creativity, identity, and pride in Scouting
• Patrol Activities & Patrol Programme – planning and delivering effective patrol-based activities
• The Patrol System – understanding structure, roles, and leadership in action
• Building Patrol Spirit – strengthening teamwork, unity, and identity
• Camping Skills – practical outdoor techniques for safe and efficient camping
• Site Development – improving campsite layout, functionality, and innovation

The patrols are growing stronger, more coordinated, and more confident with each session. The leadership journey continues! 💪🔥

Day 1 of the National Patrol Leaders Course began with participants assembling at Matabeleland HQ, before traveling to Gordon Park Scout Camp, Matobo for the official start of the programme.

We are proud to have 16 Patrol Leaders in camp, ready to learn, lead, and grow! ⚜️

The day focused on laying a strong foundation for the course, with key activities including:
• Campsite setup – establishing order, teamwork, and responsibility
• Getting to know each other – building unity and patrol spirit
• Patrol assignments – forming functional and effective teams
• Understanding the Vision and Mission of Scouting – aligning purpose and direction
• Introduction to the Progressive Scheme – appreciating the growth journey of a Scout

The energy is high, the spirit is strong, and the journey of leadership is well underway! 💪🔥

The National Patrol Leaders Course (PLC) runs from 12 to 17 April at Gordon Park Scout Camp, Matobo, in the Matabeleland Scout Province — and it officially begins today! 🔥

We welcome all Patrol Leaders from across the country to this premier leadership training experience. Over the next few days, you will deepen your understanding of the Patrol System, build practical leadership skills, and grow into stronger, more effective leaders within your troops.

We are ready for an intensive, hands-on programme filled with learning, teamwork, and adventure.

This is where leaders are shaped. ⚜️
