Great match, great lessons!
On Saturday afternoon, our Knights Academy youth team played an excellent League Round 4 match against current Premier PCL League log leaders Minerva Chess Club at TelOne Campus, Harare. It provided invaluable lessons for our players. See pics for League Rankings.

The team line-up was as follows: Nicole Chibvuri (15) on board one; Kirebhi Mangani (16) on board two; Charline Musarurwa (12) on board three; Tarnia Shangare (13) on board four; Prince Gonzo (13) on board five; and Psallo Mafaune (9) on board six.

Our Saturday afternoon reserve, Nevson Jnr Tadisa Chida (8), achieved a major upset the previous week on Saturday 11th of April matchday with a win on board six against Zimworx Chess Club.

Facing Minerva this past weekend Saturday on Independence day April the 18th, the youthful Knights team displayed commendable endurance, patience, and determination. Most games progressed to the endgame. Although our young players were ultimately defeated by formidable opponents, they contested every game to the final move. It was a worthwhile and hard-fought encounter.

These are valuable lessons in chess. To be the best, one must compete with the best!

AND EARLIER IN THE MORNING ON SAME DAY SAT THE 18TH OF APRIL 2026....

Yesterday Saturday afternoon, Zimworx Chess Club played Knights Academy at the TelOne Campus in Harare.

The match provided a valuable learning experience in the premier PCL League for our youthful Knights side, comprising Nicole Chibvuri (15) on board 1; Kirebhi Mangani (16) board 2; Charline Musarurwa (12) board 3; Blessed Nyahwa (13); Prince Gonzo (14); and Nevson Jnr Tadisa Chida (8). They all gave a brilliant fight.

Surprisingly, Nevson Jnr Tadisa Chida, at just eight years old and competing in his first ever professional league match, secured a point for Knights Academy on board six by defeating a significantly older opponent, thereby preventing a whitewash πŸ‘.

Well done team. Good fighting spirit shown by the young players 🀝

NASH National Scholars Championships 2026 after final 9 Rnds in Harare...

Our Knights Academy player Nicole Chibvuri (U15 Girls) has scooped a medalπŸ…for Harare Province πŸŽ‰πŸ’₯
Overall 3rd at the very competitive event.
This is now for the 2nd year in a row after last year's stellar podium finish medal performance in Chinhoyi. In this current event she only lost 1 game in 9 rounds, with 3 draws and 5 wins! Attaining 6.5pts/9.
Only lost a game vs the eventual Gold medalist Mash East Ruwa star top Zim Nationals player Grace Zvarebwa (7.5pts). Silver medalist is a Bulawayo talent and last year Gold medalist Kelly Mbondo also with 7.5pts.
This achievement is for Harare and the Knights family. We have a NASH Scholars national champion in the family.
Well played also to the other Knights who represented Harare Province; Makanaka Mukonya and Blessed Nyahwa. They all had a very decent finish in their respective sections πŸ‘
Well done!

IN PICS....

It was a truly amazing social chess gathering at Mushandirapamwe Hotel Machipisa Highfield Harare yesterday Saturday, the 28th of March 2026. The KCAZ OPEN Monthly Tournament for March proved to be a success, with the Budiriro community participating with their talented young players. We were honoured to have the esteemed Coach Cephas Mukondo in attendance, also enjoying the serene and sometimes tense atmosphere at the event.

The young players from powerhouse Haig Park Primary demonstrated remarkable skill, injecting a high level of intensity into the competition. This time a few participants travelled from as far as Ruwa, and they didn't disappoint, showcasing their prowess. It was indeed a thrilling atmosphere that has become a hallmark of our very humble and modest KCAZ monthly tournaments.

We say thank you to all who took part for presenting an electric display at our humble KCAZ Highfield base. It is warm-heartedly through such simple friendly gatherings that communities can exchange ideas, attain growth, and experience the powerful effects of healthy competition in a welcoming environment.

Notably, Talent Nota, Zimbabwe's sole medalist at the Africa Youth Chess Championship (AYCC) 2025, joined us and thoroughly enjoyed the spirited matches alongside numerous other talented young players.

Well done all πŸ‘
