ZIMAS - Honour and Appreciation - 2025 and beyond

Celebrating Unity, Compassion, and the Power of Community in Championing the Rights of Persons with Albinism.

As we reflect on 2025, ZIMAS extends heartfelt appreciation to all individuals, organizations, and professionals who have walked with us in our mission. Your dedication, compassion, and partnership have helped us bring light, hope, and opportunity to children, women, and families across Zimbabwe.

To our devoted staff and our esteemed Director, with her amazing team, thank you for your leadership and commitment to inclusion and empowerment for persons with albinism and vulnerable communities.

We could not have done it alone. Our โ€œIt takes a villageโ€ approach has shown the power of unity together; weโ€™ve created safe spaces, nurtured dreams, restored dignity, and built understanding.

As we continue the ZIMAS mission, we remain steadfast in advocating for the rights and needs of persons with albinism to equal access to opportunities, good health, quality education, social protection, and full human rights.

Thank you for being part of the ZIMAS family for believing, supporting, and walking this journey with us.
Together, we are making the lives of persons with albinism bearable.

๐ŸŽ€ Pink October Breast Cancer Awareness Month โ€“ Women with Albinism Matter Too! ๐ŸŽ€

At the Zimbabwe Albino Association (ZAA), we want to shine a light on the unique challenges women with albinism face regarding breast cancer:

Challenges include:
Limited awareness and education on breast health.
Difficulty detecting changes due to lack of tailored guidance.
Limited access to healthcare and specialized screenings.
Social stigma and discrimination that discourage seeking help.
Financial barriers to screening, diagnosis, and treatment.
Emotional stress, fear, and low self-esteem.
Underrepresentation in health campaigns.
Risk of delayed diagnosis due to combined barriers.

Action Steps:
Get a check-up near you or in your area.
Encourage friends and family to do the same.
Share knowledge and support survivors in your community.
Letโ€™s stand together to raise awareness, empower women with albinism, and save lives!

A LEGACY OF LIGHT: Remembering Dr. Farai Maunganidze
Director General โ€“ Zimbabwe Albino Association
Sunrise: โ€“ | Sunset: June 2024

June 2025 marks one year since we lost our beloved Director General, Dr. Farai Maunganidze, a visionary leader, tireless advocate, and compassionate servant of the Zimbabwe Albino Association.

We remember a man who lived not for himself, but for the countless lives he touched with courage, compassion, and conviction. Dr. Maunganidze was more than a leader he was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and inspiration. His unwavering commitment to the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of persons with albinism reshaped communities and inspired a nation. Through his leadership, many children received access to education, families found hope, and policies were influenced to reflect a more inclusive and just society.

His legacy lives on in the programs he established, the lives he touched, and the light he brought to so many through advocacy, empowerment, and service. His voice may be silent, but his vision remains alive in the work we continue to do.

As the Directors, Management, Staff, and Members of the Zimbabwe Albino Association, we remember him with deep respect, immense gratitude, and heartfelt love.

Rest in peace, Dr. Farai Maunganidze.
Your legacy lives on in every step we take toward equality, dignity, and inclusion.

The Power of Young Voices: Driving Change, Inclusion, and Empowerment

Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are the changemakers of today.

From local neighborhoods to global stages, from social media movements to influential decision-making forums, young voices are growing louder, clearer, and more determined than ever. They are questioning old systems, rewriting stories, and calling for a world rooted in fairness, inclusion, and justice for everyone.

When young people speak up, they break silence.
When they lead, they disrupt the status quo.
When they are included, transformation happens.

Their ideas are fresh. Their courage is bold. Their dreams are not bound by history, but fueled by the future they know is possible. And when we listen, support, and empower them, we open the doors to lasting impact.

Let us amplify their voices.
Let us invest in their vision.
Let us walk beside them not ahead of them on the journey toward equity and dignity for every person.

Inclusion begins with listening. Empowerment grows through participation. Change is driven by courageous voices. And youth are leading the way.
