Pamumvuri extends its heartfelt condolences on the passing of Mr. C. Chiringa, Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in Harare Province.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of a dedicated public servant who was committed to improving the wellbeing of communities across Harare. Pamumvuri had the privilege of working closely with Mr. Chiringa in the implementation of drug and substance use prevention programmes in Harare, where his leadership and support played an important role in advancing community-based responses to this critical issue.

His dedication to public service and his willingness to collaborate with civil society organizations will be remembered with great respect and appreciation.

We extend our sincere condolences to his family, colleagues in government, and the people of Harare Province during this difficult time.

May his soul rest in peace.

Our team is attending the 2024 edition of the Mine Entra to engage with the Mining Industry and discuss mental health issues within the world of work.

We will also have a networking cocktail and key deliberations on issues specific to the mining sector and its value chain.

Pamumvuri recently entered into a partnership with Meikles Foundation Childline Zimbabwe Nani Wellness Project and the Vukarhani TRUST.

The initiative, called the Thrive Together Initiative seeks to bring together our respective strengths to address . These challenges are a huge social-economic burden to the country and require a collaborative response.

A networking cocktail was hosted in Harare to launch the consortium and we are grateful to Fayaz King who delivered a sterling presentation to the captains of industry who attended.

Sharing infrastructure such as helplines and drop in centres will improve our collective response to these challenges.

We had the pleasure of being invited by Bishop Never Muparutsa to speak to a group of Bishops under the Pentecostal Assemblies of Zimbabwe representing Pentecostal Churches from all parts of Zimbabwe.

They had gathered for their strategic meeting where issues of abuse were a key component of the agenda. We were tasked to make a presentation under the theme; “Strategic Programming Against Drug and Substance Abuse”

From our deliberations we made the following resolutions;

⚽️ 600 adolescents in Harare and Bulawayo to be taken through our curriculum during the August School holidays.

⚽️ Churches under POAZ to adopt the e-training which is being rolled out under the World Health Organization (WHO) Special Initiative for Mental Health in Zimbabwe. Other capacity building exercises will be announced in due course.

⚽️ Pamumvuri and it’s partners will be invited to the various churches to deliver quality mental health and substance use interventions.
