Since 1983, SOS Children’s Villages in Zimbabwe has given over 15 000 orphaned and vulnerable children a chance to grow up in a family with love, respect and security. SOS Children’s Villages in Zimbabwe is a private, non-political and non-denominational developmental organisation. SOS Children's Villages in Zimbabwe also aims to improve the quality of life in the communities in which we operate by making care, education and health care available to children and their families directly. We help families and communities to become strong so they can take care of their children better. Our hope for our children is that they grow up to become independent, responsible, and productive members of society. SOS Children’s Villages in Zimbabwe is found in three locations, namely, Bindura, Waterfalls (Harare), and Bulawayo. VISION

When we have strong data, we can make stronger decisions.

Day Three of Zimbabwe MEL Week 2026 marked the official opening of the second edition of the event by the Vice President of Zimbabwe, Hon. Kembo Mohadi.

Held under the theme “Strengthening Data Systems and Evidence Systems,” the event highlighted the vital role of reliable data and evidence in guiding effective decision making, strengthening accountability and supporting sustainable development.

For our SOS Children’s Villages Zimbabwe MEL team and data clerks in Masvingo, the day was an opportunity to connect with others, share knowledge and reflect on how stronger data systems can help us better understand needs, measure results and improve outcomes for children, families and communities. 💙

From Hwedza to Bindura and Shamva, the learning continues.
As part of the Global Programme Support Visit, Justine, Manager – Programmes Quality and Development Support, is visiting Bindura, Shamva, and has visited Mutumba Primary School ECD Block and the school’s greenhouse income generating activity, which were supported by SOS Children’s Villages.
The visits provided an opportunity to engage with teams, see programme activities in action and learn how these initiatives are supporting children and communities.
Every visit brings new learning and strengthens the work we do together. 💙

Better services start with stronger systems and accountable leadership.
ur SOS Children’s Villages Zimbabwe Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team and data clerks continue their learning journey in Masvingo. 🇿🇼

Day Two focuses on "MEL for Local Governance and Accountable Service Delivery," creating space to learn, engage and exchange ideas on how stronger monitoring, evaluation and learning systems can improve the services communities receive.

SOS Children’s Villages Zimbabwe welcomed Justine, Manager – Programmes Quality and Development Support, for a Global Programme Support Visit to Family Strengthening Services in Hwedza and our Family Like Care programmes.

The visit included engagements with our teams on programme monitoring and evaluation, discussions on programme development and advocacy, meeting programme participants in Hwedza, and visits to our Family Like Care programmes.

These conversations and field engagements help us learn, strengthen programme quality and improve the support we provide to children, young people and families. 💙

📊 DAY ONE | MEL WEEK: Turning Data into Action!

"What if better data could help us make better decisions for children, families and communities?" That is the focus as our SOS Children’s Villages Zimbabwe Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team and data clerks join MEL Week in Masvingo. 🇿🇼

Day One explored how we can transform MEL and data systems to accelerate "Vision 2030, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2063".

From strengthening data systems to using evidence for better decisions, the discussions reminded us that, data is more than numbers. It is a powerful tool for understanding needs, measuring progress and creating meaningful change.

Our team is ready to learn, share and strengthen how we use evidence to improve outcomes for children, young people, families and communities. 💙
