In commemoration of the International Day of Biodiversity, RETZ proudly joins the global community in marking this important occasion. Inspired by the 2026 theme, "Acting Locally for Global Impact," the youth of Domboshava have taken a bold and purposeful step toward nurturing biodiversity in their community.
Through a deliberate and hands-on initiative, young people in Domboshava planted a rich variety of crops and plants, including carrots, lettuce, beetroot, covo, mustard spinach, garlic, onions, spring onions, and sweet potatoes. They also introduced flowers and bees to the space, creating a thriving and balanced ecosystem. The integration of beekeeping and floriculture two practices deeply intertwined in nature. As bees forage across flowering plants, they drive pollination, which directly boosts the yield and quality of the vegetables growing alongside them.
This natural partnership strengthens biodiversity by supporting a wider web of pollinators, while also opening meaningful livelihood opportunities for young people through honey production and flower sales. With approximately one third of the world's food supply dependent on pollination, the presence of bees in this garden is not a small detail it is a cornerstone of food security for the community.
