The National Association of Non Governmental Organisations(NANGO) is the national coordinating umbrella body for Non Governmental Organisations(NGOs) in Zimbabwe. It is a non-party political organisation, non-profit making and non-denominational organisation mandated to coordinate the activities and work of civil society and to represent the NGO sector in Zimbabwe as the sector's official voice. F
ounded in 1962 as the Southern Rhodesia Council of Social Services mostly catering for social welfare organisations, it was renamed 'The Voluntary Organisation in Community Enterprise' in 1980. This was in response to the proliferation of NGOs focusing on social, economic and political development in Zimbabwe. A decade later (in 1992), it assumed its current name NANGO under the Private Voluntary Organisation Act as a welfare organisation. With an elaborate membership of over a thousand registered member organisations, NANGO carries under its wings an amalgam of various issue constituencies and representative groups all with the singular focus of meeting the development needs of men, women and children in Zimbabwe. It takes pride in operating at the helm of civil society in Zimbabwe as the country's largest membership based organisation. The Association's membership comprises community, national and international NGOs. The association's membership is segmented into 10 different thematic sectors which comprise:
1. Disability
4.Economic
