Education Coalition of Zimbabwe - ecozi is proud to participate in the 6th Southern Africa Regional Students and Youth Conference (SARSYC VI) taking place in Windhoek, Namibia, from 5–8 August 2026.

Held under the theme "Aligning for Action: Sustaining Progress in Youth Health and Education," the conference brings together youth leaders, education advocates, policymakers, and development partners from across the region to strengthen collaboration and drive meaningful change.

ECOZI is honoured to serve as a panelist on the session "Spotlight on Regional Solidarity: Alliance Impact and Mechanisms Required for SARSYC Tracks," where we will share experiences, highlight the power of collective action, and explore strategies for advancing youth health and education across Southern Africa.

Together, we are aligning for action and building stronger regional partnerships to ensure every young person has access to quality education, better health, and greater opportunities.

📢 Membership Wednesday is Here!

Every Wednesday, Education Coalition of Zimbabwe - ecozi will be shining the spotlight on one of our valued member organisations, showcasing the incredible work they are doing to advance education and improve the lives of children and communities across Zimbabwe.

This week, we feature Abdullah Dzinamarira Foundation Trust , whose mission is to share hope with children from disadvantaged backgrounds by promoting access to quality education and essential social support services.

Through initiatives in educational support, child sponsorship, comprehensive sexuality education, climate adaptation & Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and social financial education, the Foundation continues to make a meaningful impact in Mashonaland West, Harare, and Manicaland.

Together, our members are strengthening voices, shaping policies, and transforming education.

Education Coalition of Zimbabwe - ecozi in partnership with Ministry of Primary & Secondary Education, Zimbabwe is carrying out a monitoring visit to assess the impact and implementation of the Early Waring System (EWS) in Schools in Insiza District.

The major aim of the exercise is to evaluate whether the objective of the EWS system of identifying,assessing reducing and retention of at risk students in schools is being achieved as well as accepting back drop outs. Though the drop out rate is still high overally, EWS has been embraced in the District and they have used the whole of community approach whereby teachers, students, parents and their local leadership are working together to curb drop out of students and ensure all students complete school.

The major challenges identified contributing to drop outs are distance to schools which is around 33km one way, artisans mining, religion and financial constraints. For effective eradication of drop outs the schools recommended construction of low cost boarding facilities, school feeding programme, refresher trainings on EWS. and community awareness outreaches.

📍Mid-Term Budget Review Meeting 2026 | A Snapshot

Education Coalition of Zimbabwe - ecozi , in partnership with the Ministry of Primary & Secondary Education, Zimbabwe and UNICEF Zimbabwe , successfully convened the 2026 Mid-Term Budget Review Meeting, bringing together key stakeholders to strengthen accountability, transparency, and equity in education financing.

The engagement provided a platform to review progress on the 2026 education budget, assess financing priorities, and strengthen evidence based advocacy for increased investment in quality, inclusive education. Discussions focused on legislative and policy processes, education sector budget analysis, parliamentary oversight, accountability, and stakeholder coordination.

Through constructive dialogue and collaboration, participants reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that education financing responds to the needs of every learner and contributes to improved education outcomes across Zimbabwe.

Together, we are strengthening accountability, shaping policy, and advancing equitable education financing for all.

Mid-Term Budget Review Meeting – Strengthening Accountability in Education Financing

Day 1 of the Mid-Term Budget Review Meeting in Kadoma is underway, bringing together key education stakeholders to strengthen accountability, transparency, and sustainable financing for Zimbabwe's education sector.

The meeting has convened representatives from the Ministry of Primary & Secondary Education, Zimbabwe , CAMFED - Campaign for Female Education , Teach For Zimbabwe , Farming Community Educational Trust -Facet , the Parliamentary Portfolio Committees on Primary and Secondary Education and Higher & Tertiary Education, as well as the Budget and Finance Committee.

Today's discussions are focusing on:
📌 The Budget Strategy Paper (BSP) and its implications for education priorities.
📌 Challenges affecting the delivery of quality, equitable, and inclusive education.
📌 Domestic education financing, including progress on the National Education Trust Fund Bill.
📌 Performance updates from MoPSE and the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, with particular attention to budget allocations, disbursements, and expenditure.

The deliberations highlight the urgent need for increased and equitable investment in education, stronger parliamentary oversight, and efficient use of public resources to improve learning outcomes for every child.

As the meeting continues, stakeholders reaffirm their commitment to evidence-based policy dialogue, collaborative action, and ensuring that no learner is left behind.

Education Coalition of Zimbabwe - ecozi , with the support of UNESCO , is at Kadoma Ranch Hotel for the School Development Committee (SDC) Regulations Writeshop facilitated by the Attorney General's Office and the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

School Development Committees play a vital role in keeping education accountable and community-centred. This writeshop is a critical step toward giving SDCs a stronger, clearer regulatory foundation so that every school has the governance structures it needs to serve its students.

ECOZI is here because communities deserve to be at the heart of education.

With the support of UNESCO , Education Coalition of Zimbabwe - ecozi is proud to be at Kadoma Ranch Hotel, participating in the Writeshop for the School Development Committee (SDC) Regulations a landmark process facilitated by the Attorney General's Office and the Ministry of Primary & Secondary Education, Zimbabwe Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.

School Development Committees are the backbone of community participation in education. Getting their regulatory framework right means stronger schools, more accountable governance, and better outcomes for every learner in Zimbabwe.
