Are you passionate about raising awareness, crafting compelling stories, and driving change in road safety? YCARD is looking for a dedicated volunteer to lead our Communications & Media Department!

Role: Head of Communications & Media
Type: Volunteer
Location: virtual (Physical for some meetings)
Responsibilities:
>Develop and implement communication strategies to raise awareness about road safety.
>Help manage YCARD’s social media channels and online presence.
>Coordinate press releases, campaigns, and promotional materials.
>Collaborate with other departments to ensure consistent messaging.
>Engage with media outlets, partners, and stakeholders.

Requirements:
☆Strong written and verbal communication skills.
☆Experience in social media management, content creation, or media relations (preferred but not required).
☆Creative mindset with attention to detail.
☆Passionate about youth advocacy and road safety.
☆Ability to work collaboratively in a volunteer team environment.

Youth Coalition Against Reckless Driving (YCARD)

Background
Road traffic accidents remain a leading cause of injury and death in Zimbabwe, with many linked to reckless driving. Youth are among the most affected — as passengers, pedestrians, and drivers. While many awareness campaigns exist, a youth-driven, proactive monitoring initiative has the potential to create a cultural shift.

Problem Statement
Despite enforcement efforts, reckless driving — speeding, drunk driving, overloading, overtaking dangerously — continues to be normalized. Youth-led organizations have the numbers, mobility, and digital presence to challenge this norm.

Goal
To reduce road accidents in Zimbabwe by mobilizing youth-led organizations to form a unified coalition that reports and exposes reckless driving in real-time using photos, videos, and reports via social media and official channels.
