In Memory of Prof Jason Arday
We at Special Kids Zim are deeply saddened by the passing of Professor Jason Arday.
Prof Arday made history as the youngest Black professor at Cambridge in 2023. He was autistic, non-verbal until age 11, and went on to inspire millions with his story of resilience, brilliance, and hope. To our children and families, he was proof that a diagnosis is not a limitation.
It breaks our hearts that in his final days, Prof Arday faced intense public scrutiny and online cruelty. No person should be bullied to death. No person with special needs should have to defend their worth on the internet.
To every child, teen and adult with autism, ADHD, and other disabilities reading this: You matter. Your voice matters. Your story matters.
We call on all of us - schools, media, and communities - to choose kindness over criticism, and understanding over attack.
Rest in peace Prof Jason Arday. Your legacy will continue to inspire our children to dream big.
